We have file sharing for characters, so you can give it access - but yeah I still need to add a little "media" button for the chat so it's easier to share on-the-go

Been working on it since November last year after I made a PR for OpenWebUI, as I realised that there wasn't really a lightweight, cross-platform, open "client" for AI (and if there was I hadn't been able to find it, since I really wanted one!)
So I started working on Compass for fun and kept going.
Now it's pretty stable and polished and I'm ready to start letting people know about it - while I keep working on it and adding features

However Compass is not really targeted for engineers, and is not specifically for building applications. Rather, it's a more general AI chat app that strives to be mobile-friendly, private, light, self-hostable and powerful (like self-running agents that can respond to your environment)
The fact that we can run this on a phone, means that it can respond to GPS-coordinates or other signals and - say - suggest events that are nearby that could interest you (of course EVERYTHING being under your control)
It would be up to each user to arrange with their AI what kind of behaviour they want from it
Models can be added pretty easily - either add a provider like OpenAI or Anthropic and they show up, or run a local one like Ollama where you can download and run any open source model you wish
Absolutely plan on going big on integrations - but it's not my focus right now. Want to get Windows build working, then add more tools and implement Event Hooks (where you can schedule your AI to run when certain events happen, such as the clock turning 8pm or getting an email from someone)
@semperverus Damn, that's crazy! Different technology but very similar aesthetic. I'm a bit jealous that they already have Windows and MacOS builds working - I'm struggling a bit with that but I know I'll get there sooner or later ;)

@warmaster Hmm.. haven't actually tried that myself - but I imagine a long-context model could handle it. Feel free to give it a go :D

@hayk Already there - models can be pulled inside the "Providers" section if you have Ollama added
But I'd like to make it more apparent and easier (perhaps accessible straight from the front page)

Yeah, overall I'm putting user experience high - it should be snappy, intuitive and robust
