So painfully true 😭 I’ve been at it with a group of friends and we just finally reached the moon yesterday, after a month of pain and suffering.

The standard lab ranges are defined by ā€œat least some people don’t show symptoms of deficiencies or issues or etc at these levels,ā€ not ā€œeveryone is guaranteed to be fine in these ranges.ā€ I was ā€œin rangeā€ with B12 until I started developing nerve damage from a deficiency of it, with years of symptoms leading up to it that were ignored because I was ā€œin range.ā€ I was ā€œin rangeā€ with folate, because the standard lab tests inactive folic acid and not active folate. I was ā€œin rangeā€ with ferritin, and yet had significant improvement from taking more iron. I was ā€œin rangeā€ with potassium and then ended up in the ER multiple times from hypokalaemia so bad that I could barely move.

You get the idea. ā€œIn rangeā€ is not the same as ā€œwill get no benefit from supplementing it,ā€ but it’s the kind of thing that ideally is done with proper medical assistance if you think you’re deficient in things.

Can confirm! I’ve massively reframed how I’ve seen myself over the last few years, it’s been great.
