Batteries don't generate electricity, they store it. And human fat actually is much more energy dense than the lithium ion batteries we have today. It's almost as energy dense as gasoline, but there aren't any animals that produce gasoline naturally. So if the robots needed a good way of storing excess energy (solar?) until they needed it, and they hadn't made any big battery advances by then for some reason, human bodies wouldn't be a terrible option if you had a good way to fatten them up when you had excess energy and have them burn the fat and turn some turbines when needed.
For anyone who missed out on learning food safety guidelines at some point, which I don't blame anyone for -
Don't thaw your food in hot or even warm water. Even if you don't accidentally cook your food before you meant to, allowing the outer layer of the food to spend time in the temperature danger zone while the inner parts thaw will allow bacteria to start causing trouble. Now, if your frozen thing is small or thin enough to completely thaw in like 5 minutes, you're probably fine using warmer water, but in general, try to keep everything under 40°F(4°C) until you're actually ready to cook it.
You know, overall I think I agree with you, and I suspect you'd be facing a lot less pushback if you'd made your argument a bit more generic and not specifically about AI. If the argument is "co-opting existing hate speech language is not cool, even if you're using it to talk about things that most people dislike, and even if those things aren't capable of having feelings of their own." If I saw a guy on the street stub his toe on a mailbox and then heard him angrily call it a "metal f*g", I'd think he was a weird homophobe. I still remember people in the early 00's using the term "wigger" to refer to Caucasian rapper wannabes, and how it pretty quickly fell out of use because it was obviously gross, even for the time.
I must not run in the same kinds of circles as you, online or IRL, because I think I've only heard one or two people use the term clanker and I haven't heard anyone use the other terms you mentioned. The times I've heard/read clanker, it didn't seem like the people were trying to make allusions to the n word. They certainly weren't doing any of that "clanka", "don't say the hard R, yuck yuck" type stuff or I definitely would have clocked what they were doing. The other terms you mentioned are, to me, way more obviously derived from existing slurs.
When I read the headline the first time, I thought it said "fuhrther right" and chuckled at the pun, but then I reread it and there was no pun and I got sad.
When my first kid was born I often found myself singing that song to her when she cried. I didn't know why my brain jumped to that song so often, and then a couple years ago I re-watched that episode and was like "oh yeah, that's why. The show I watched every day as a child left some things in my subconscious." I also know that I've reached a certain level of stressed/anxious/depressed when I start singing "Que Sera Sera" to myself like Ned Flanders does in "Bart's Comet".
Fire gang for life. I love that little flooferpup, and I'm excited to see what kind of bipedal, fire/fighting, rule34-bait dogman it evolves into.
I know it's probably an artistic choice or maybe a lack of budget thing, but I find it weird how textureless these guys are. You don't have to make them realistic or anything, but let the dog look like it has fur beyond the little anime spikes at the tips. Let the bird look like it has feathers. Right now he looks kind of like if a bird put a green bedsheet over his head to be a ghost for Halloween.
She's just playing along. Her care provider asked her to answer a question that a trained medical professional should be answering, so she came up with a scenario where she was one.
I feel like Raspbian deserves a place on here somewhere, although I'm not sure where exactly. It's the distro I've installed the most times since I like to do Raspberry Pi projects, and I imagine there's quite a few people out there whose first major exposure to Linux was for the same reason. So maybe it should go near Welcome Bay?

It's a very comforting smile for reasons I was unable to articulate, but I think you're spot on with the understated realness of it.
They're just innocent in a purely legal sense, cuz human laws don't apply to cats and all that.
I mean, it was in Watchmen, but it certainly wasn't from Watchmen. According to this thread, versions of the joke predate Watchmen by 100 years.
"Que seraaa seraaa..." I sing to myself as I hug my knees to my chest and rock back and forth.
I mean, he could be earnestly asking because he doesn't know either.
I've always heard the second part as "If you're not a conservative when you're old, you don't have anything in your wallet."
Dude looks like if Chi-Chi's dad, Ox-King got lost and wound up in the wrong anime.

Instead, Pete will make extra sure they get regular shot.
