i never could relate to Jake. his childhood was way more safe and supported than mine. and as an adult, he turned out more confident and regret-free than i could ever be. not that he had zero regrets (especially his future elderly self), just less than have.
the main things other map apps lack are live traffic and traffic-aware navigation (business reviews can be found in other types of apps, and imo should not be a central feature of maps)
snapshots of Google traffic data can downloaded and imported as a layer in OSMand, but the app probably won't automatically navigate around jams, i dunno tho, i use the below for navigation.
HERE WeGo is a map app with live traffic-aware navigation. it's owned by a European corporation i believe. i keep it in offline mode until i need navigation, then once it's given me a route, i take a screenshot and put it back in offline mode. i know these steps don't keep the app from knowing my location and destination, but i need to avoid traffic for mental health so i have no real choice for now.
I'm super ignorant about celebrities' self-marketing but i thought Maher was a libertarian only pretending he wasn't racist. he actually claimed to be on the leftish region of politics?
i listened to Daniel Loh's narration of Condor Heroes' English localization. i liked it personally, reminded me of 1970s English dubbed Shaw bros. martial arts movies.
by the same token, his voice is quite low (no pun intended) and raspy/vocal-fried so that can be a turn off for some people.
edit: FWIW Rosalind Chao is a great screen actress and also plays a central character in the Netflix adaptation. that can be a treat for some, but potentially a disorienting meta-textual factor for others.
the struggle is real. thanks for sharing your experience. I've also been the weird guy in the class/office most of my life. i tend to think of it as the curse of early adopters or clever adopters. doesn't necessarily make easy.
at least we have strategies and keep finding new ones to get our stuff done, or keep track of things.
btw my version of the bandolier is a shoulder harness with pouches below each armpit, plus dangling keys, hand sanitizer, and my diy door handle puller. and carabiners, carabiners, carabiners. 🤣
I've also had lots of facepalm moments like this. so much that it's contributed to my OCD and unwanted thoughts/recollections.
dunno if this would work for you, but one of my strategies is to attach important things to my body or clothes (but not jackets, hats, or other items that can be easily taken off).
useful tools for this:
neck or cross-body lanyard (for phone, keys, heavy things)
stretchy lanyard or chain
retracting badge reel
Fanny packs/bum bags/sling bags
customizable molle gear and pouches
along with these, i adopted a policy of never setting things down on a public/outdoor surface. the object is always in one of two locations: my hand, or it's designated pouch/pocket.
unfortunately websites can even use data transfers (without mentioning legitimate accounts/streams) to promote themselves to business partners and anime studios.
so pirating directly from their site is still helping them indirectly.
that's way beyond Jgovt technical skills. they're at "eye pee add.... less? what's that? is it tasty?" level.
took them until last year ish to upgrade from 3.5" floppy disks.... they weren't using them cuz of retro trends like zoomers, either. they used them **UN**ironically!
your initial instinct that the conditions are related is not an invalid one. so so so many things surrounding Neurodivergence turn out to be "both ___ and ___"
it also runs in families, so yeah.
if you haven't already, check out Neurodivergent Insights on YouTube. and Divergent Conversations, also YT. both feature Dr Neff who has so much great info, and the interview guests are amazing as well.
from what I've learned it's not typical of autism directly, but a typical pattern of people with PTSD and RSD tied into social and relationship experiences. PTSD in turn is common among autistic people and all Neurodivergents, and RSD is common among AuDHDers (and of course ADHDers).
i also get overwhelmed quickly in emotionally sensitive discussions, or even discussions about the topic of emotions.
ahhh, the halcyon days of downloading Utada mp3s via dialup cuz no store outside of Japan, neither online nor brick mortar, even sold them.
and bragging about it on AIM!

of course, i do relate to the text in the image

I'm glad if it helps you.
FWIW I've lost my bag a few times also. i hope that's not the case for you.
i switched to a bag that's small enough i never have to take it off, even in a movie theater or while eating. preferably even when using the restroom.

when crunchy first started, they streamed my fansub group's work, my translations, without asking permission or crediting us.
they were never Batman/Bruce nor Harvey... not even as ethical as Two face...
