Any android box you can recommend? I am looking for something without all the bloat, ads and privacy nightmare. I have a shield. It is pretty nice but still bloated and too bulky to put behind a TV.

A Fire TV went nuts today spamming my network with 60k mdns Pkt/s. It took down all my WiFi access points because the CPUs couldn't handle it.
I have an oculus quest 1 and I am still salty that it doesn't get any updates anymore and that its bootloader is locked. It was very expensive. On the other hand my steam link which is discontinued got updates for a very very long time. Heck it might still get some.
The whole unknown sources thing was also highly unpleasant.
There are really cheap mcus that need maybe one capacitor if even that. It is cheaper, easier and more flexible than the multiple components required to configure an NE555.
I play most games with mouse and keyboard. But there are games that just play better with controllers especially casual ones. Also good luck couch gaming with keyboards and mice. :)

I also find swimming super boring. I plan to do it more when I get older as it is as you said a good way to exercise without straining/pain.
Have you thought about getting some bone conducting waterproof headphones? You can load audio files onto them like music, podcasts or audio books.
They aren't that expensive anymore. I have shokz but other brands work fine too in my experience.
Ending driver support for the 1080 still makes me angry. It is a perfectly fine and powerful card but they just ended support on Linux and in cuda.
Nvidia was bad about this before the memory shortage. I need loads of VRAM but don't care about millions of cuda cores.

You better use a certified device or you get 480p@16 bits per second.
