Search around for cheap VPS deals and start from there. That's what I ended up doing. Yes, if you have the hardware available and lying around, absolutely. However, whatever I ender up hosting I wanted it to be accessible when I'm on the go. There's always the ability to roll out tailscale or another VPN back to my home network but I rather keep the home network fully inaccessible from the outside. Just personal preference.
How difficult was it for you to configure your self-hosted instance of FMD?
I already have a server which I use to self host owntracks. However, I don't know much about nginx and after using the automated owntracks installer, I can't seem to properly configure reverse proxy for anything else eg. Linkwarden.
I initially considered that, but in the end I just bit the bullet and got one 2 weeks ago.
My thought is with the current trend of PC hardware prices, I didn't want to wait to see how it affects phone prices.
At the same time, I do not know if the collaborative phone between GOS and the manufacturer will be something I like. The current Pixel 10 phone is already bigger than what I ultimately prefer and I think it's more probable the new phone will be phablet sized.
Very interesting. I was cpnsidering using separate profiles, but I read somewhere that google services is sandboxed anyway, so having it all in 1 profile is fine.
What I will need a separate profile for though, is for banking apps. I have one which is adament that I use a keyboard app from the play store and will refuse to function if I have one from F-droid installed.
Congrats. I too also moved to GOS a little over a week ago. Found out a few of the apps fromy old phone no longer work as intended and I'm now discovering the security restrictions of Android 13 is making syncing of files in the Android/data folder very difficult.
I do not have first hand experience, but have been told that while Bazzite is excellent for gaming, the immutable nature of complicates matters when it comes to software development, dev tools and stuff of that nature.
I think early generation CRTs had mercury and lead in them, which made them not enviromentally friendly. Not too sure if there are any modern materials which can replace the hazardous ones.
I use this on Android to sanitise links I sent out as well as clean incoming links before viewing them.

Installing a downloaded application.
You should give Full Throttle a go if you like point and click adventure games.
Topped up diesel @ AU$1.69 / L last Tuesday. It is now AU$2.19 / L. This is in Sydney, Australia.
The board of peace is definitely bored of peace.
Perhaps if they didn't buy up all the RAM, HDDs , GPUs and making PC building / home computing so expensive, maybe we might consider liking it a bit.

Definitely. It didn't help that the application I am using doesn't support having a custom data storage location.

Pretty sure space is something we have in abundance.
I may have nothing to hide, but I have absolutely NOTHING I want any govt to see.
Very interesting. Are those custom maps on the Steam Workshop?

I'm still sad that ASUS no longer allows bootloader unlocking for their Zenfones.
Still too big for me to confortably use and carry around, unfortunately.
Good point.
