That's likely to happen anyway because he put himself in a no win scenario. The hard liners' demands can't make it through the Senate, because even the Senate Republicans aren't onboard with that shit.

So it's cut a deal with the Democrats to keep the government open, and get primaried, or shutdown the government and weaken the party in 2024... And get primaried because his speakership was disastrous.

Gaetz's imaginary door #3 doesn't exist, and McCarthy knows it.

Theoretically, on the federal charges, but not any state charges (such as the ones expected to be brought in Georgia)

Of course, a self-pardon has never been tested, and while the composition of the Supreme Court should be favorable to him doing so, it's not guaranteed that they would actually be on board. There would be a constitutional crisis if he tried to self-pardon, and the Supreme Court ruled that he could not (which could be nearly solved by impeachment of either the President or various Justices, but that will not happen under the present dysfunction of the Senate)

FTD here - the most popular bag among our friend group seems to be the BabbleRoo, which is what we ended up getting, but we're still waiting for little one to show up so I can't give an objective review just yet

Never leave humans a loophole!

If they're going to require historical scholarship when evaluating gun laws, they should not be surprised when that effort exposes the lie that "guns were allowed to be brought anywhere for any reason"

After all, even the famous shootout at the OK Corral happened over enforcement of a regulation prohibiting gun carrying in town.

Honestly, most communities are pretty small at the moment - I would start your own, and if you're super successful and the mod load gets too much, I'm sure you'd find others willing to volunteer to help, if not outright take over moderation duties.

nah, not irrational. back in the day it would at least be considered a violation of forum etiquette to do that, if not considered outright spam, because that's annoying. leave that mess over at twitter where you have character limits

It's Lemmy World's tokens being invalidated (because of the back) that's causing the issue, not Liftoff (source: I had the same issues with Connect)

Clearing your app cache, and signing out and back in, ought to solve it.

Wow, this is... something else.

The ability to get to the suburbs isn't a limiting factor in the US for theft, since a) most people have access to someone's car (whether their own or a friend's) because of how car-centric the design is, and b) Uber/Lyft are a thing, and I assure you those drivers care not one bit why you're going where you are going.

But, homes get robbed in rural areas with no public transportation every day already. And the culprits already have their own transportation. Totally wild and unfounded logic here.

Drip-wise is definitely better. It's easier to read, a mass of same posts all in a row is a bit off-putting, and in this growth phase for the community, we're better off spreading those posts out imo.

Yeah, this is pretty much where I stand - memes are fun, but they can get annoying quickly. Putting them up in a separate community would allow people to post them to their hearts content and allow others tired of memes to ignore that community for a while.

It's lonely being the beginning of a community, but the payoff is totally worth it!

I'll have to dig through my photos to see if I've got any worthy of posting to attract new posters - been a UOAP for a while, but haven't been since Mardi Gras and probably won't be back until next year because new baby enroute
