@serpineslair@lemmy.world I can fully understand you checking out electronic music. I have been a metalhead all my life since 1986, however used to DJ Detroit electro and other breakbeat stuff like DnB, Ghetto Tech and of course the really heavy German stuff, Anthony Rother, Blotnick Brothers and the likes. Did club and radio shows back in the days.
I liked to use a Carcass bit to separate parts of my electronic sets.
Crazily good band. The last album was not at the height of their power as they stopped innovating, but they are still amazing. Also a fantastic live band. My 1st Meshuggah concert was one of my best experiences.
Thrash Metal as it should be π€π»
Powerslave by Testament
Evolution of Chaos is really great. This is what comes to my mind when I think of Heathen.
I think they missed a great opportunity. Strange to record sth with so little ambition.
I can agree with that. IMO the have some real bangers.
When they started out they were better than most German thrash bands at the time but got lost in copying Slayer afterwards.
After the comeback they did well, but not superb. But there are the bangers. π
By the way, do you know Slower? They do Slayer covers, but as Doom versions. π
There is Holy Moses, who started really early, even 1980 AFAIK. The singer Sabina ClaaΓen shouted there nearly their whole career.
TBH I never liked her voice which kept me from listening to their music, which is actually quite good. But that's just my personal taste.
I like the drumming.. Didn't know that cover until now. Thanks for posting. ππ»

These genres fit well together IMO.
It just works.

My favourite Doom band. These guys were so good.
I think Tidal redirects you if you don't use their app. Glad you like it. π€π»
