When I had to access it at home I'd login via a website. No systems schools use are in any way good for privacy so just keep it isolated as well as possible
Create guest networks with AP isolation for IOT and guests. Switch to a good DNS such as Quad9 or NextDNS, enable Wireguard for all devices on your network. Set a strong admin password and disable remote/WAN access to your router.

Just got a Pocket Nova and put it on my guest network with AP isolation. Upon connecting to WiFi I immediately saw it connect to Facebook, ESPN, and some others I can't remember at the moment

I will put it on my guest network to be safe, like you said, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Was just curious if anything like this had actually been documented.
I tend to use my main profile as my main one and set up secondary profiles for whatever I might need them for. I tried a private space but really wished it shared the VPN with my main profile so I didn't like it much.
For my retro game collection I try and find games that are known to be the best from that console and then find the hidden gems. I don't try and just download every game on a system just to have them.
