You can pay 20$ to remove the ads from within the app. The ads never bothered me. I used to have Sync for Reddit and that one I had paid like $5 to remove ads. But I think the developer had stopped updating it for like a year before sync for Lemmy came out. Maybe not enough incentive

Considering my fitness tracker shows I took 121k steps in January, and the average breaths of 12 per minute, I'd have made 30k in January. 5k more than just breathing. Assuming a resting heart rate, breathing faster because of exercise is not a factor I can quantify

We have more power to select our democratic candidate than you might think. The primaries in 2020 were our opportunity to select our democratic candidate. Far less people vote in primaries than they do in the general election. Biden won the primaries, so he got the Democratic nomination. If more people voted for primaries we could have a more progressive president. It just turns out that a smaller subset of our population gets to pick the Democratic nominee

Lol and if you keep up with politics you'd see how many of the things he tried to do but got shot down by Republicans. Ex: Student Loan forgiveness

So in the 90s you bought a couple of years old at most 9 years old, and your comparison is buying a car now in 2024 that is 18 years old, for twice what you bought your car in the 90s.

Car insurance is getting super expensive even more so for younger folks. My renewal came in with GEICO and they raised my 6mo premium from $2500 to $3300. So I got a bunch of quotes from different companies all of them were around $3500-$4000 matching the same coverage. It's insane.

Pendragon by Dj Machale, long series like Harry Potter that grows up with the reader as the series goes on and becomes more adultish and darker. It's similar main character plot of a kid who was nothing to becoming the hero. It's my favorite series ever!

The Summoner by Taran Matharu, also very similar zero to hero story, but also very fantasy where a peasant worthless kid gets inducted into a magic arts school and also becomes a very important hero. It's story is actually very interesting
