In a fair number of places where rideshare companies targeted first for their rollout, taxi companies were definitely worse. Places like NYC already had informal (and illegal) ride-sharing services because the cab system was absolute shit and lobbied hard against any changes to make them better.
Now, many years later, the cab companies have definitely updated and are way better than they used to be. As we've seen, the ride-sharing companies are now the shitty ones.
One of the more convincing arguments I've seen isn't necessarily that it was an inside job, rather that the people who could have prevented the disaster had motive to stand by and watch as it unfolded.
Lots of weird things in the years leading up to 9/11 don't necessarily directly support this but they do add fuel to conspiracy theories...like the Project for the New American Century calling for a permanent US presence in the Middle East. Just a few years later and some of its signatories are handed the perfect casus belli allowing them to station troops in the Middle East.
Nothing concrete, just stuff that's kinda weird enough for conspiracy theories.
Up and down the East Coast of the US, they're known for hiding some of the absolute worst puppy mills. It used to be a big thing every time one of them got raided but you knew they were probably just going to set up shop elsewhere. If you saw an ad for golden retriever puppies way out in the countryside of Pennsylvania, you just knew they weren't going to be treated well at all and probably have horrible health problems.
I've heard EMTs refer to the result of CPR on elderly people as "bone soup." Almost every time it's described in detail, you get people saying they'll definitely get a DNR order when they get up there in age.
IIRC Fat Bastard lost all that weight by eating Subway...Goldmember was in 2002. There were also a couple jokes about Fat Bastard eating babies...then 2007 is the beginning of when Jared absolutely wrecked Subway marketing with his predator stuff all the way to 2015. I can't imagine they'd leave an opportunity to fit something about that into at least one joke.
Is it difficult for new players to jump into Wurm Online at this point? I've always liked the idea of the game but never got around to giving it a solid try.

Kinda sorta. It's a remake of the campaign in UE5 supposedly with co-op but no other multiplayer. So if you want some Blood Gulch action, still gotta play CE.

The brilliant people in the Flat2VR discord server pop up in gaming news periodically for adding VR to games not built with it in mind. Just about any game built on UE4/5 and RE can conceivably have VR added using their mods. The footage I've seen from the most recent Resident Evil looks pants-shittingly horrifying in VR.
Imagine we're normal people for a second, the kind that don't spend as much time online as to be deeply involved in stuff like this. You see the reviews coming out about Starfleet Academy, read the generally positive (not glowing) reviews and then decide to scroll down a bit to see what the comments say...
I have seen people complain about all aspects of an openly gay skirt-wearing Klingon. So many batshit fucking complaints about Holly Hunter "disrespecting" the Captain's seat by not sitting up properly and putting her feet on it. These websites' comments sections are like 90% red-faced rants barely making any attempt at hiding their hatred of minorities. Some entertainment news websites are worse than others but they're all generally like this.
There are way fewer comments highlighting things like the occasional plot hole or the really weird choices of background music that doesn't really match the intensity of the scene.
