Mostly big corporate, big tech, and the US gov't and its intelligence services. I am already in the process of migrating my digital environment towards Linux + self-hosting, but browsing remains a challenge to me.
Basically: I don't want my devices location, metadata and telemetry to be tracked by anyone.
It's worth remembering the direct quotes of Jeffrey Epstein a out DJT.
"none as bad as trump"
"not one decent cell in his body"
"the worst person I've ever known"
"dangerous"
Just imagine having the power of a POTUS, just to metaphorically burn the whole place down, probably while even thinking you are on the winning side. I'd pity him, if he wasnt such a PoS.
bc someone might still be dependent on certain services that he or she wasnt able to replace just yet.
Also: "perfect" is a the arch-enemy of "good". Every bit of de-americanization, de-corporatification counts, and comments like yours somewhat disencourage people to even begin the journey. Bc "why even degoogle my OS, if I cant degoogle from that one since particular service 🤷". It's the same reason some people are not fighting climate change. Why care for my CO2 emission, if India or China wont budge?" We wont score perfect, so I wont even try."
Just coming here to calling you out, @Wudi@feddit.uk. Politico is owned by Axel Springer. They are pursuing an agenda of dividing people and causing hostile behaviour towards minorities. Also owner of the German outlet BILD, which is basically the answer to the question "What if Nigel Farrage became a news paper?". Check your sources, and PLEASE dont support politico with your clicks, and especially not by sharing their garbage.
I'm personally done with this sub. We all hate the US. But some people on here just spam every foreign propaganda article they can find. Be it Russian controlled state media like Sputnik or other outlets like Politico, who is part of the Axel Springer group. Think about what sources you are reading, at least every once in a while, OP.
A reminder that Sputnik is a state-controlled Russian outlet. Even when a story is true, it's worth verifying through independent reporting rather than relying on a propaganda source.
Verify first, share later.
Edit: I did further research It actually turns out the story is real. The problem is that Sputnik isn't the source. CNN and Reuters confirmed it independently. Always check the original reporting. And it does not change the fact that Sputik is to be treated carefully.

Thats the point. We are entering the realm of the unknown. Too many people are way too eager to accept the belief they want to believe. Thats why I am asking for people who actually know more than me.
I honestly dont know how many users on here are US citizens, but you guys really need to break out if this. It's nazi Germany nazi-US-America by now. Grab all of california and start the a civil war. I am seeing no other way out of this madness.
I'd be interested in the privacy aspect. Does anybody with more knowledge than me know more about that? Like.. It traceable? Will the gov't know ally purchases, vendors, etc.?
"Blames AI" lmao. Oracle is one of those cancerous companies that we should avoid at all costs. Even towards other businesses they use preditory tactics, MASSIVE vendor lock-in and hidden costs everywhere. They're basically one step away from being a pyramid scheme.
Everyone's asking "What's the damage", but noone's asking "How is the damage" :(
Yeah, I am a long time Vivaldi user myself. Up until now at least. I am quite happy with it, but from what I read, it has it deficits.
Thank you for correcting me on that :) I'll remember it.
A discussion like this is exactly the reason I love this sub. I am learning more and more every day. Thanks to both of you guys.
Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the mentioning if 4Get. I just read about it. Awesome project.
Considering that already. Do you experience any problems or limitations with that? Like being flagged as a bot, or sites returning errors?
Edit: thank you for the suggestion!

You're trying to scam a Linux community into giving you private data or money? Bold strategy.
Go home, Tankie.
