I was thinking about it being social but also having a group discussion/thematic events, I am in touch with at least one Queer Shed and one Hackerspace in the area that I think would be interested in networking about it, or at least letting their members know about the event...
Haigh a cara!
I recently started wondering about making a regular solarpunk meetups in Dublin, I'm thinking about making it my new year's resolution haha
there's a place for aesthetics, imo, since visualising how to make the world a better place is an important step for motivating people & having ideals to strive for. 🙌
Absolutely! What I meant is that (for me) solarpunk as a movement is more than just aestietics or even an art genre, for most of the people I know it is equally a philosophy, a goal and to a degree a way of life haha
my nit-picking starts when it's something like an ai-generated image of trees on a skyscraper
Call me names if you want, but by now I just mentally dismiss AI-generated stuff by default, I'm so tired of it...
if you don't mind online/zoom classes, my pro-tip is to look for places in the north like an droichead
Did you just assume I'm in Dublin lol? (I am literally in the middle of Dublin)
Sorry, I'm not fluent myself, I'm trying to learn but it's an complicated affair, especially since I'm relatively new to the country and there doesn't seem to be a lot of places focused on teaching Irish from scratch to adults... However, I have my cupla focal, and am trying to improve!
optimism & helping folks feel informed & empowered is a crucial part of solarpunk
Absolutely agree! I personally think that this is one of the most important ways of how solarpunk is different than the 'aesthietic genres' in how we are actively trying to figure out how to make the world more solarpunk here and now.
Right? Also, I like how empowering the whole article sounds.
Also, you're the first commenter on the community, so welcome I suppose haha
Also also, it's nice to spot an Gaeilgeoir in the wild!
Becuase somehow during the purge the rich and influential will somehow be vulnerable instead of the right-wing billionaires literally pushing the poor into a literal lava pit?
Hihi, I'm very much into urban gardening, sustainable ways to feed our communities and food preservation techniques (especially all kinds of fermentation), I'm in the GMT tz, happy to answer any questions you have!
Hi!
Really glad I found this community :)
I've decided to start writing, and because of my ADHD I needed to impose myself a deadline, or I'll never get anything done, so I've decided that I'm going to write a little TTRPG game, and debut a playable preview of it on a local gaming convention at the end of March.
In solarpunk-related stuff, I have an idea for two solarpunk short stories, so I hope to have a draft of at least one of them this year, will be very interested in getting proofreaders ;)
Hi again, good to be here!
Obvoiusly not...
I'm a huge fan of The Journal, but didn't realize they have a podcast!
It's almost as if we have a government that prioritises capitalists over actual people living here 🤔
Didn't they allocate 200 billion euro for AI and data centres just a few days ago? 🙃
AND the space is otherwise wasted, AND the cars don't get too hot on a rare sunny day in Cork 😂
Amazing! I'm a huge fan, I host my personal GtS and highy recommend
Yeah, no, I'm not going through two different 'prove you're not a robot' screens for one article about RAM chips, thanks.
BTW, is it okay to DM you?
Eh, it's all just a concept so far, but I like to be prepared before I commit lol

Also, maybe this calls for a wiki post? 👀

I would argue that it's a bit unfortunate name choice haha
