Yeah the Waltons aren't super liked outside of that little town, and there are plenty inside it who aren't fond of them anymore as the city bends to their whims. Sometimes you benefit from what they do, sometimes it fucks up something you liked already. A little of their guilt money is in my nonprofit's bank account. I am happy to be using it for things they'd probably hate.

Lava rock is a bit different from other rock... you should definitely have a metal insert in there if you're using landscaping brick, it's not meant for direct fire.

On the grill it's pretty good, but it does take a long time, and you hollow out the very middle and jam a bunch of butter in there, then tinfoil the whole thing. Keep it at high temp for a full hour. But yeah since learning how to do it, I've done it 0 times, so

Well this cooter has teeth (and is a grinder we have learned) so one imagines it has a connection into the digestive system, but then if he knew that, he'd probably have known to avoid the teeth.

The living own the earth... the living fascists who purport to be the only ones capable of divining the founders' intent and insist it be done in the vacuum of our contemporary understanding of the founders unless it agrees with their wishes and then it's the only thing that matters

This one makes me a GOD to my friends. One 4th of July ours blew, and we paid a guy like $550 to come put in a new capacitor. And then I googled the cost and, when I woke up from the seizure it gave me, I ordered a few to match my condensers. Now I try to make sure my friends don't have to pay that particular emergency-rate cost.

I'm still trying to figure out how it can be simultaneously nighttime and daytime in my dreams so mazel tov, you're in the AP classes here

(I think my brain doesn't render rayleigh scattering)

There was a big article yesterday in one of the magazines about how a new cohort of tradwives age 18-20 are going all in, of course the women actually work doing content production but pretend it's just churning butter and getting on their knees. And the funny part is, they're being railed at by thousands of people, including former tradwives just 22 years old, about how they're idiots for refusing to save emergency cash or have careers outside of the marriage, because they assume they can "monetize the divorce" if it comes to that.

I remember what it was like to make bad decisions at 18 but holy christ, they're running head first into a brick wall.

It's not just labor organizing, although that's super important. Minorities, small communities, friend circles are all forming with the understanding we're stronger in numbers. I run a gay men's group that meets at least weekly, we've had about 200 guys join, gotten media coverage, gotten the attention of civil rights leaders and lawmakers already. I'm just a guy with some crude leadership skills, little time, and no money. But there are lots of people like me out there, pulling people together. Faith communities are leaning in so we can organize their people.

You don't have to sit on the sidelines doomscrolling your life away. You can act, even if that's finding a community and joining it.

I spent the summer tearing apart an exterior wall of my 1902 Queen Anne house, doing electrical and Ethernet and fixing plumbing and insulation. Real work in the 100-105* sun. It's fucking glorious. The problem is, every time I come home, or face a challenge of any kind, I just go "well fuck it, time to go work on the house." So I am super behind in all of my projects, including a business to get me out of tech, heh. I want to trade screens for sun...
