Unfortunately I need to sign-in to use old reddit now. Haven't made a reddit account yet and it looks like I'm giving up lurking and checking random reddit links from a web search over starting now.

However, as an individual who has a bedroom right next to the bathroom, I can personally say the smell is a night and day difference between the lid being up or down before flushing.
In general, I try not to make any promises at all, and don't really trust any promises made by others. Humans are fickle creatures, and the world is an even more fickle place by comparison. Sure, I can try to do this thing for you tomorrow, but if I said I'll definitely do it, and a tornado suddenly touched down and tore the city apart, I wouldn't be able to make good on that promise, now would I?
Ticks, sure, plenty of things to eat them and they're only a problem a few times of year here. But I think the ecosystem will survive the removal of mosquitos, even if some animals might suffer for a while or perish as well. Flies come close to the amount of annoyance I receive from the mosquito, but not close enough. I hate them so much, my perception of what seasons I like and hate is entirely dependant on if mosquitos (and other bugs) are around more often.
In the same way you've learned to tolerate bugs, I used to be fearful of spiders, though I never hated them. Nowadays I love to see a spider making itself at home in my room, the kitchen, the porch, the basement, etc. A bug trap installing itself at no cost to me, what could be better?
Counters? Oh you must be confused, those are just convenient shelves for bowls of fruit nobody asked for or will eat. Those should go on the kitchen table? That's a good one, everyone knows that thing is only meant for bags, satchels, notebooks, and trays that could conceivably hold something but do not. And not only does stuff not go on ice cube trays, stuff also does not go on the bottom of the freezer! It's literally sloped so you can't do that. And if for some god-forsaken reason you have to put something down there, don't put it over the defrost drain! Otherwise everything in the freezer gets covered in frost and we have to take everything out to clean it out! Ask me how I know!!
My mom firmly believes that empty space is a sin. No matter the context; fridge, attic, basement. This made sense when I was very young, we were a family of 8 and she was the only one working, so she always went insane with coupons, and sales, and "free" stuff. We are no longer a family of 8, nor are we insanely poor, yet her habits have not changed. It pisses me off when I open the freezer, and find it packed like the opening game of Jenga. How the hell am I supposed to find anything in here, let alone reach it? I'd have to take everything out first, and then somehow put it back.
I agree. I specifically want an option to remove new users' posts from my feed. With the hope that by the time Lemmy doesn't consider them new anymore, they've either chilled out and post like a normal person instead of spamming, or they've been removed from their community for being a nuisance or bot.
Same here. Shortly after I joined the Fediverse I didn't want my feed to look like Reddit's, so I made a rule that if I saw more than one post by someone on my feed at a time that I'd block them. The majority of these are new accounts, so I'd also like the option to filter these accounts out.
My unpopular opinion is that peanut butter does not belong on a sandwich. Don't get me wrong, I love peanut butter, on its own or as part of a snack or dessert, but spreading it between two slices of bread? It doesn't matter what else you put on it, it's way too sticky and messy for me to enjoy it.
I haven't used kagi before, is there a way to disable the AI assistant? I understand I don't have to use it, but I'd rather it not be on my screen at all.
This isn't quite the same, but my friend made me watch Project Hail Mary yesterday, and it wasn't until about 80% through that someone was talking about Ryan Gosling, and I was like, "Wait, this is Ryan Gosling?"
Coincidentally I had the same exact experience with Matt Damon and the Martian, except I didn't know that was Matt Damon until after I finished the movie.
I don't really watch media or know who anyone is, but I know of memes about both of them.
I take this mentality a little further, and block users if there are 2 or more of their posts on my feed. I got sick of seeing the same people again and again, and at some point it just turned into an iron rule of mine. I wish I could auto block or mute new accounts until they're no longer new, because most of the accounts I block are less than a week old, and I assume they stop their spamming after a while, but I guess I won't be learning.
I've relatively recently learned about red lentil pasta, and it's just about sworn me off wheat pasta forever. It's healthier, it's extremely filling, and it's actually tasty. I can't eat plain pasta, it's just so bland, I need pepper at the least, or sauce and grated cheese. But with red lentil pasta, I'm content just eating it as it is.
I guess that doesn't answer your question, but I haven't actually had any other lentils, so for now I'll say red is my favorite until given reason to say otherwise.

Definitely what I first thought of.
I do this with my dogs sometimes, or rather I pet or rub them around with my feet because it drives them into crazy play mode for some reason.
