Let me take this opportunity to, once again, reiterate that I (a lifetime Democratic Party voter), am entirely done with harm reduction voting. I will no longer vote for the lesser evil if the candidate sucks. The party has to start nominating candidates that don’t suck.
As part of an attempt to research more single-use devices (as a way to help focus attention and reduce distractions), I recently learned that there are a variety of interesting e-ink tablets and phones sold by companies like Boox. I’m starting to realize that there are really compelling alternatives on the market that offer different kinds of value than Apple’s visionless product line.
l’ve postured in the past about replacing my Apple products, but for the fist time I’m starting to feel comfortable with the prospect of doing with really interesting and different devices. My iphone is still pretty new, but my ipad (which i use a lot) is probably due for retirement this year. This latest cowardice from Apple may have just pushed me put of the walled garden for good.
I’m not kidding when I say, I’m not voting for a Democrat for president that doesn’t have teardown and prosecute policies in their campaign platform. There are more important issues, but these are the easy things. If a candidate can’t get these right, they cannot be trusted with the more complex issues.
I guess I’m glad he’s saying it, but I’m entirely sure this unserious fool would personally grind children into the concrete foundations of new data centers if his corporate paymasters wanted him to.
This is not surprising or complex. trump has a general interest in supporting the proliferation of oil production because he’s ether vested directly, or he wants to be popular with cohorts that are. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to flex his power over states and local communities, which he derives personal pleasure from. Finally, he gets to actively hurt constituents, which he has literally no respect for, and actively despises.
I never said Ukraine was doing terrorism. I’m asking questions to understand whether Ukraine is doing terrorism. Russia’s is definitely doing terrorism.
It’s just so frustrating that a community like this is so determined to make excuses for, and create a permission structure for what could be terrorism.

No one here is trying to argue permission for Russia to do terrorism. Opposing terrorism is the standard. If you’re saying that Ukraine gets a terrorism hall pass, then you are arguing for a double standard.
I’m taking a broadly anti-fascist stance and merely reacting to the anti-democratic sentiment of both Ukraine’s statements and the commentary that is prevalent in this thread. As a supporter of Ukraine generally, I’ve heard and largely dismissed the ‘fascist’ critique I’ve heard from Russia bots over the years. Not being intimately familiar with all the nuances of Ukraine culture snd history, i based this mostly on a ‘give them the benefit of doubt’ approach given that they’re the victims in this conflict.
All of that being said, if the start acting like fascists, they don’t get a hall pass just because they’re victims.
Nothing Russia does has a bearing on whether something Ukraine does is terrorism. It’s either terrorism or not terrorism, independent of whatever terrorism or other awfulness Russia does.
