Outrage drives engagement like nothing else, so the ai that runs the content prioritises it.
It’s really simple,
And Google, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram don’t give a fuck that they’re destroying society. In fact they’re racing to be the best at it for shareholder value.

Chinese companies are under the thumb of the Chinese government. Leveraging against existing social fractures is good for Ol Pooh Bear.
Same reason why they back door pharmaceuticals through cartels to make the drug problems worse in America.
It’s not even conspiratorial when it’s this transparent.

I get recommended manosphere shit soon frequently it is difficult not to see it as promoted content. I watch none of it and hide it consistently and I still get it. Peterson, Shapiro, guys who's beard is there personality with cancel culture shit on their thumbnails.

That sounds annoying. TikTok really is very idiosyncratic. I've never once seen this content. My stream is all women lifting heavy weights, gymnasts, cosplayers, and clips of the Xena tv show from the 1990s.
I do see the rare political thing but never this flavour. The last one pushed at me was Gaza thing and it didn't have the usual Not Interested option. I can tell that there is an accelerationist editorial direction to push extremist political stuff on TikTok, but also it's pretty homeopathic in its proportion to non-political stuff for my stream
