You make it hard for me to choose.

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 28 pts · 3y (10 replies)

Try the first one! If you don't like it, start from the top and go down the list again!

AvailableFill74@lemmy.ml · 14 pts · 3y (9 replies)

Infinity for reddit mentioned trying to keep developing and if they can't get API access, they said pivoting to a lemmy client is on the table. They posted this in their sub on reddit.

Exciting since I infinity for reddit is a fdroid only client that rawks!

can@beehaw.org · 21 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Sync dev is weighing their options too.

ayyndrew@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Sync for Lemmy would be amazing

ericflo@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 3y

Agreed - I really underestimated how much I had gotten used to that UI. Would love to keep using it or something like it on the Fediverse!

JarekLB@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 3y

I absolutely love the sync app, I really hope he decides to make an app for Lemmy.

Generator@lemmy.pt · 8 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Also RedReader

My long-term vision for RedReader is to restructure the app to more easily support other sites, including Lemmy, and perhaps others such as Tild.es and Hacker News. Before the API changes were announced, I was already considering adding RSS reader functionality to the app, and I think it would be cool to work with some kind of "open forum protocol" which would allow a variety of websites and apps to interoperate with each other through a uniform API.

AvailableFill74@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Great news all around

FriendBesto@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 1y

Hope they implement RSS.

zekiz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Infinity isn't an Fdroid only client.

kryostar@beehaw.org · 1 pts · 3y

Infinity is the sole reason i use reddit anyway. I love that app, if they made it for lemmy.. <3

Ahmed@lemmy.world · 34 pts · 3y (10 replies)

We should have Sync for Lemmy!!

SeeleLowe@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 3y

The dev is actually considering it! I certainly hope he finds the time too.

doctor_han@lemmy.ca · 13 pts · 3y (6 replies)

Would love to see 3rd party reddit apps migrating to Lemmy platform at some point.

CaptManiac@lemmy.sdf.org · 12 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Relay for Lemmy would really make my year.

valek879@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3y

Relay has been my go to for years. I'd pay again for a Relay for Lemmy app. Browsing Reddit is so fluid on it I'm sure... Is it Dave? ... Would make a great Lemmy app!

yardman876@mastodon.social · 3 pts · 3y

@CaptManiac it definitely would.

lalay721@feddit.it · 4 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Same, I'm especially hoping to see Infinity for Lemmy someday.

AvailableFill74@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

They recently mentioned perhaps pivoting to lemmy if they cant figure out the API issue. Exciting times and they posted it in their sub

heimchen@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 3y

Ohh, that sounds exciting, do you have a Link to this statement?

LiGuangming1981@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 3y

That would be great. It would make leaving Reddit for Lemmy that much easier. Sync was also my preferred way to browse Reddit and I'll miss it.

ConditionOverload@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y

I've posted multiple comments on the sync subreddit that the dev should make an app for this. I'd gladly pay again for that kind of an app.

AvailableFill74@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 3y (4 replies)

Doesn't a list of apps imply more than one?

Still nice to have the links to download from.

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Sorry, just used to Reddit where titles cannot be edited. So I anticipated for the future.

SeeleLowe@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Wait, you can edit the title on Lemmy?!

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Ya! Not sure if it's because I am a mod, or if it's universal. I haven't posted outside of a community I don't mod yet. Either way, it's really nice.

zekiz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

It's universal. You can edit titles on Lemmy

Sponholz@lemmy.ml · 15 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Jerboa is ok so far, using it, but it really need a way to set the font size separately, one setting for the main feed/list, and other for the post/comment.

When I set the font to 12 for example, the text of the post/comments is perfect. But the main feed becomes too small.

itadakimasu@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Mark it as an issue on the GitHub if it isn't already

nodiet@feddit.de · 14 pts · 3y (5 replies)

Wow I was going to comment that lemmur is another android app for Lemmy but then I realised it was shut down in February. Does anyone know what the "political differences" are that are cited as one of the reasons for the discontinuation?

poVoq@slrpnk.net · 11 pts · 3y (4 replies)

I don't know the exact motivations of the Lemmur developer, but 2022 surfaced a lot of community break-points here and it is no secret that the main Lemmy developers at least tolerate if not partially endorse some pretty insufferable people on the Lemmy instances they run.

SeeleLowe@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y (2 replies)

For those of us who are new here, can you elaborate?

poVoq@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Lemmygrad.ml is all I need to say 😑

SeeleLowe@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3y

That actually just raised more questions lol

yogthos@lemmy.ml · -6 pts · 3y

Prime example being that you've been tolerated here.

isdfoa@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 3y (8 replies)

It'd be such sweet justice if third party reddit app developers migrated to Lemmy, and that's what really kills off reddit for good.

That aside I've been using jerboa, but also Lemmy itself is a PWA (in chrome you can "Install" Lemmy as a dedicated web app from three point menu) which works good as well.

c2h6@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

The Apollo dev already said he doesn't plan to (at least for now), and I can see why. I'd support any third party dev that does this but it's unlikely

psychothumbs@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y (6 replies)

That would be so great - unfortunate that none of them seem to have any interest in doing so.

itsmikeyd@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 3y (5 replies)

LJDawson of Sync for Reddit looks to be heading that way.

QuantumEyetanglement@lemmy.one · 2 pts · 3y

Man I really hope he does, that app was incredible, would gladly repurchase it for Lemmy!

Thanks4Nothing@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Source? I was all in on Sync and this would make my day. Did he post something about it?

itsmikeyd@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 3y (1 reply)

The Sync Discord channel. He's going to work on an MVP and see how that goes.

Thanks4Nothing@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Thanks! So stoked!

I just stumbled on a new project called Thunder, made for iOS and Android. Looks really good so far.

Community here.

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Thank you! I have added it into the post!

kairo79@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

There ist also Lemming

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 3y

Thank for letting me know! I added it now

paour@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 3y (2 replies)

And another one: Liftoff

https://github.com/liftoff-app/liftoff

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

As someone else mentioned, this replaces Lemmynade, so I have went and updated it. Thanks for pointing it out!

florge@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Liftoff replaces lemmynade

I didn't know about that. Thank you! I added it now.

on fdroid, there is also an app called lemmur https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.krawieck.lemmur/

struds@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 3y

Hopefully someone will fork it, now that there's a huge surge in growth.

AccurstDemon@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 3y

This project is not maintained anymore :(

kryostar@beehaw.org · 2 pts · 3y

It looks great but doesn't work because it's not maintained. Cannot add any instances.

fisco@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Looks like Lemmur is being resurrected...👍🏼

zekiz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

I don't know if it counts as Android app but there also is https://wefwef.app

It's a PWA and can also be installed on Android.

Mozingo@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

It's pretty limited so far but I just found this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuroneko.lemmy_connect

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 3y

Just added it. Thank you!

puck2@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Jerboa seems to be working well. I don't like the two talk bubble icons because they're ready to confuse. The comment button should be different than the "thread" button.

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Same. One should be an opened envelope or something that signifies marking as read. Just like emails do.

Cstrrider1@beehaw.org · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Is there a difference between the fdroid and gplay versions? The icons looked different for me.

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 3y

Different when you installed them? Or on the page? They should be the same application.

jackpot@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 3y (2 replies)

infinity for lemmy

jackpot@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

warning, infinity cant see image comments yet

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Added. Thanks!

Kyle@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Soon we will see (previously sync for Reddit) sync on this list, I can't wait!

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Just added it to the bottom of the post. Thank you!

Tucumano88@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Using Jerboa and Liftoff

bl00dyburn3r@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Why are you using two different apps?

MdRuckus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

I have several. Most are new and still need a lot of work. They keep updating quickly, so it's nice to try multiple to find which one works best. At some point I will settle on just one.

Tucumano88@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Simple, testing

datavoid@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 3y

breaking news:

Cstrrider1@beehaw.org · 2 pts · 3y

Is the F-droid version different than the play store version? The icons look different. Is it the same developer or did someone mess with it?

Have not used it in a while but there is a fork of Infinity that works on Lemmy, already.

label which are foss and which are not!!

jackpot@lemmy.ml · 0 pts · 3y

@jshklsn

sadmin@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Which one from the above list do you like most? (Asking because I don't want to try all of them)

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 3y

I prefer Connect!

xantonin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

I tried Connect first but it seemed to default to All view and I just wanted to see Subscribed. I also tried Lift Off but it didn't link to profiles on Mastodon correctly, and finally I tried Jerboa and it does everything right, smooth, and I like all the interface buttons. There were other things I tested too but I just like Jerboa overall.

schizoidman@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Thunder & Liftoff are available on the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repo

JshKlsn@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Thanks! I added them!

schizoidman@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Well Jerboa is also available on the IzzyOnDroid repo and it is usually faster to update compared to F-Droid.
