I had just dropped my son off at daycare. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Ah, there's an interesting story behind that nickel…
I stood and watched the first tower fall. One of my brothers was in 5 World Trade, another in 7 World Trade. They're both still alive, but saw people jump. I get it's been a long time, and people should be able to make memes like this. To this day, I still can't watch any shows or TV shows even remotely related to the towers falling. This definitely still affects people.

You're already aging yourself with the Simpsons reference!
LillyPip@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 2y
I thought having dropped my son off at daycare sufficiently aged me. That part was true.

I wasn't AT work, but I would have been if the attack was 4 hours later.
They called off my work that day.

This should be re-titled to: "Taylor Swift flying into the World Trade Center, because the elevator ride to the top is a bit slower".

No. If you zoom in you can see jpeg (jay-pegh) artifact. It's like rings on a tree and can help experts date internet photos.

I'm the same way about the 89 quake. I was in it. I don't think I will ever think the jokes are funny. It's just too close to home.
