Most xkcd's are perfectly fitting for this magazine:

Sensible Chuckle magazine

funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 2y

I am entirely fine and on board with sensible chuckle. I would go as so far as to say that sensible chuckle has now taken the place of edgy snicker in my life.

I like the hi res ones he makes where it's like 10 pages long logarithmic maps of the universe. Cool fuckin beans.

Tbf, notice the "#2905". Dude's been cranking these out consistently, 3 times a week, for 18+ years. They can't all be great.

I totally forgot 1000 miles, my brain was stuck on 500 miles (and it’s now stuck in my head)

davidgro@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2y

It'll be stuck 500 more.

WeirdAlex03@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 2y

Yeah my first thought on that was I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), but I decided to look up "1000 Miles" just to be safe and said "oh yeah"

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

The other bands rejected the suggestion "Mostly Gecs"

Dagwood222@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y

It just doesn't add up!

echodot@feddit.uk · -1 pts · 2y (7 replies)

I've never heard of half of those bands.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Congratulations?

I'm a very uncool 40-something from a different continent than most of them and I've heard of all but 2..

echodot@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 2y

I'm not sure why congratulations are in order. I'm not bragging that I don't know them I just don't know them.

dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 2y

That's what makes you beautiful.

Zozano@lemy.lol · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I would hope twenty one pilots are in the known pile, I've been a massive fan since Vessel.

echodot@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

5 seconds of summer, nine inch nails, one direction, and 30 seconds to Mars.

That are loads that fit this category but I just don't know all of them. For example I've heard of 99 red balloons but I didn't know that was the name of the band, I thought it was the name of the song.

dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 2y

other way around homie. nena is the artist. it's a song about nuclear bombs.

lauha@lemmy.one · 0 pts · 2y

I've never heard of 4/5 of those bands

I thought this was going to be some math thing, turned out to be so much more straightforward.

LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 2y

it does involve some familiarity with song names, and some basic addition skills, right?

A_Very_Big_Fan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I still don't understand lol

Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world · -31 pts · 2y (4 replies)

If you need a wikipedia page to explain a joke, then maybe it's not a very good joke

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 2y

Well it's not a Wikipedia page, but good try. Further, Xkcd is fantastic in general but we cannot expect every single one of them to appeal to everyone, even angry commenters on Lemmy

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 9 pts · 2y

You just missed the joke

echodot@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I don't think anyone's necessarily positing that it is a good joke

A_Very_Big_Fan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

It's a wikimedia site, so he was close at least lol
