I put in an application to volunteer at a cattery, and originally had to sign up for the orientation in April, but! They had a couple of cancellations so I get to attend tomorrow instead!
Yay! Finally, things are starting to turn around! Have to be up at sparrows fart though, to travel on two trams out to the SE, but definitely worth it!
I'm hosting a training session this morning, but my new gaming rig JUST arrived. VERY tempted to go "Ok gang! Today we're setting up Windows 11 and installing steam and drivers! Are we ready? First up, does anyone know if Helldivers 2 or Boulders Gate 3 use their own launchers? No? Ok so here's how we're going to find out!"
I don't know what any of that means but couldn't you do one of those reviews like they do on YouTube. This is the box it comes in. This is what's inside. Let's open it. Here's the instructions....... Make it stretch to a half an hour while everyone watching is thinking fucking hurry up.
I did warm calling for SP Ausnet, back when they were installing smart meters. Boy oh boy, the amount of drivel I heard about the "dangers of 5G". Literally had one guy threaten to shoot our tech and myself. (I got him a police escort instead haha).
Stayed at home today. Feeling run down and sniffly. I slept in for quite awhile and decided to make chicken bullion soup with egg and veggies in it and boiling pasta with it.
Me thinks this weekend will be mostly soups for meals.
Some things need a remake. Lord of the Rings needed the remake and is now outstanding. Dune needed a remake, though I don't know if the new one is good.
The Mummy did not need a remake.
Total Recall did not need a remake.
The Crow did not need a remake.
I'm shocked at how oddly nondescript it looks. It looks like a boring revenge flick. What's up with all these revenge flicks anyway? Someone needs to make a cinematic universe revenge crossover spoof series. Where's Leslie Nielsen when we needed him most. Oh, right. Yeah.

My inspiration mainly comes from my past and my day to day life. I find it I'm being a hermit then I lack inspiration. I need experiences to push my creative buttons.
These days I mainly make acoustic singer songwriter stuff, play in a punk band, and also make my own "Egyptian industrial" weird thing lol
I like anything a little bit different. Talking Heads, Supertramp, T rex, George Thorogood, Paul Simon, RHCP, Jack Johnson. So many to name. Mainly stuff with a good bass.
I don't know if you know who Natacha Atlas is but you might like her. She's an Egyptian-Belgian who we sometimes play.
My CBDA oil and THC balm arrived in the mail today. Just so happened I had a cracking headache at lunch so I rubbed some balm on my temples and back of neck as described and it has actually fixed me right up!
You can literally just order this stuff online from a normal website. I had no idea. You do have to pay $1 to join their community, then you get access to the store and just buy stuff. Can't wait until our country catches up to other countries and we can head down to the local dispensary.
Hadnt heard of CBDA, you kinda can go to a dispensary here but you obviously need a prescription but they are fairly easy to get. That being said i dont think CBDA is available yet?
I never had any issues ordering CBD online but i think its technically not legal and i have dispensary down the end of my street so decided to just get the prescription
I'm thinking about the milky caffeinated dumplings (edit) @Force_majeure123 was dreaming of.
I have zero energy, lactose intolerance and my stomach is being a massive jerk so I can also only dream. But I found a coffee pastry cream recipe. You could probably stir some condensed milk in there too for a Vietnamese coffee sort of taste.
I was thinking the thin slippery unleavened dumpling skins might not go well unless you wanted to fake it with mochi or use one intended for sweet buns. I wondered about sweetening a pork bun dough recipe and making it like bao.
Then I found out Cantonese custard buns exist. Perhaps if you cooked the pastry cream down thick enough or added coffee to the intended custard filling it might work. It doesn't look quite creamy though. These are more complicated but look runnier.
Actually... the supermarket used to sell tubes of coffee flavoured condensed milk. You could put the flat dough skins in muffin trays to hold up the edges against spillage, squeeze it into the centre and quickly wrap it inside. I can't see the coffee tubes at Woolies or Coles but there are still tins you can spoon it out of... unfortunately the brand is Nestle.
I think steamed is probably the way to go. The filling would need to be either frozen or some sort of gel to melt when you cook the outside. Not going to try it, coffee disagrees with me.
You could use invertase like in chocolate cherries. I have no idea how it would respond to heat though. Would it speed the liquification, get denatured/not survive the cooking process, or would it still take weeks as the dough went stale...
Freezing is possible. They do it for Bombe Alaska. But it could cause the filling to split
I love that you have put so much thought into this!! I think the 'more complicated' Cantonese custard buns look like the closest to my dream - but it was even runnier. I feel like you could just add some caffeine powder to that and it would be the one. Strangely enough - in my dream the dumplings were caffeinated for sure, but were not coffee flavoured, just milk flavour. Maybe I need to think about it it patenting this idea... ๐ค
Yeah I love weird food science. It's interesting to think about. There was this Wonka book when I was a kid that let you make edible marshmallow pillows.
Sounds like a great breakfast idea, or perfect for an afternoon slump
Edit: The filling sounds like an unfrozen 'sweet cream' flavour icecream base
Actual comment on my just-submitted Pull Request:

Boss calls: "Can you please call supplier and organise X?"

Opposing imperial Russian authorities' efforts to replace the traditional Latin orthography with Cyrillic, and transporting printed matter from as far away as the United States to do so, the book smugglers became a symbol of Lithuanians' resistance to Russification.
Book smuggler Jurgis Bielinis, who created a secret distribution network for banned Lithuanian books, was born on 16 March 1846, and this date is commemorated in Lithuania as the Day of the Book Smugglers (Knygneลกio diena).[5]
I'm trying not to remember to set my alarm. I do like my job, and have a reasonable day in terms of clients and colleagues but I don't want the alarm.....
The week after I got my breadmaker, I discovered my really itchy eczema rash I'd had for a year could be gluten related. So I cut out gluten and wasted $180 on a breadmaker.
3 weeks later when I had little one over, decided to use the last packet to make bread and because I have zero self control and the smell of it made me drool I had some and no rash/no return/nothing (but still staying away from gluten if I can).
I'm pretty proud of my eggplant and golden capsicum stir fry with jazzed up tvp (soaked unflavoured larger pieces in salt water, squeezed them out, blitzed in processor, cooked up in a highly flavoured sauce).
I added too much of my fiery chilli paste tho and between that and the excess sodium I'm sure the outer layer of my lips and palate will be gone by tomorrow morning. Sure is restaurant quality though. A bit greasy and moreish
Oh that's a good idea. It's been on my to buy list for ages. I did add some brown sugar to the mix, will definitely try a different vinegar too next time.
Voldy was more nuanced than that. The movies don't really cover it that well, but his big motivator was to be special. He used control of the ministry and domination of the muggles as a carrot for his supporters. But at a personal level, he didn't care about power and control as end goals.
He wanted to be the most renown, feared and admired person in the world. He wanted to be so special that everyone just did whatever he wanted. Not that he wanted to rule the world - but whoever did rule it answered to his every whim.
It's a very petty and vain motivator. But, I can actually believe it. Actually ruling the world sounds like too much work.
What's for dinner folks? I'm thinking either Chinese style eggplant with capsicum and minced tvp to go with rice, or a quick dal to go with upma (savoury semolina mush)
Onya, you definitely deserve a Friday night out. I'd have a look at adjacent suburbs like St Kilda East, even Elwood and Balaclava aren't as prissy as I thought they would be (I know that's why you moved out of your last suburb).
I'm due to make my ~quarterly subscription movie/tv show switch from paramount to somewhere else. Who's got a good tv show I should watch that's recently released somewhere?

How's windows 11 these days? I'm still on 10 and hesitant to upgrade. Is it stable?

Book smuggler Jurgis Bielinis, who created a secret distribution network for banned Lithuanian books, was born on 16 March 1846, and this date is commemorated in Lithuania as the Day of the Book Smugglers (Knygneลกio diena).[5]

My body is a mystery.

Against all odds Iโve actually tipped the Swannies to take this one.
With the fury of Grundy and hopefully their midfield Iโm hoping theyโll overrun the pies.

Black rice vinegar is good for cutting down the heat. I find that upping the sweetness and acidity can mellow out some heat.
Looks good though, for sure.
just_kitten@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y
Oh that's a good idea. It's been on my to buy list for ages. I did add some brown sugar to the mix, will definitely try a different vinegar too next time.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y
I love spicy hot food, but my eastern European heritage shows up quick when too much heat is involved.
Usually I eat out pickled or sauerkraut, but really acid and sweet take care of the heat.
