Would be annoying to have a bell ringing constantly throughout the dinner

xkbx@startrek.website · 4 pts · 2y

You’ve never had a Betazoid dinner, I see

My mom cut this out of a newspaper and had it hanging in her bathroom for about 20 years.

Didn't he see the sign when he walked in?

ivanafterall@kbin.social · 19 pts · 2y

My favorite is when they quickly splash some water on their hands and walk out like deep down they don’t believe they’re lying to themselves

Dental Denial: just using mouthwash without brushing or flossing. Must be a handwashing equivalent.

AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee · 18 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Okay, as someone who isn't a germaphobe or anything like it, I'm a firm believer that's it's absolutely disgusting, regardless of who does it, to not wash your hands after going to the bathroom in general.

I believe it's pretty ingrained in Muslim and Jewish culture to wash the hands frequently.

Used to work in a courthouse where jurors would be kept waiting and had access to the public restrooms.

The sheer volume of people that would drop a duece and waltz out without washing (and possibly without even wiping) was staggering. I thought the ordeal of covid might improve handwashing.

Nope. Though I figure the type that didn't wash after the toilet before covid would simply continue to not wash their damn hands.

I don't want to see the numbers for the US...

systemglitch@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

So it's not considered washing unless soap is used as well. Interesting nuance.

Can confirm, I live there and it is awful

LaserTurboShark69@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 2y

The restaurant would lose business from the constant alarm going off constantly

aniki@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Do you post these manually? I could write you a python script to run daily that will do it automatically if you want.

Love a couple people saw this and went >:(

Hand-curated post aficionados I suppose

I have this false, Berenstein style memory of Along Came Polly or another late 90s comedy having a trailer with this joke in video form. If this happened please let me know I'm not crazy.

I don’t need to wash my hands, that’s what my immune system is for 😤

dylanTheDeveloper@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Exactly, i don't wash my hands in fact i make it a habit to grab my shit out of my ass with my hands and fling it onto the ceiling and at nearby patrons.

brbposting@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I believe this works for playing in dirt but is nonsensical for bathroom germs (IIRC)

Bacteria from the poopoo can make you really sick.

Definitely accept your anecdote but we know in the aggregate, handwashing works.

Handwashing education in the community:

  • Reduces the number of people who get sick with diarrhea by 23-40%
  • Reduces diarrheal illness in people with weakened immune systems by 58%
  • Reduces respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by 16-21%
  • Reduces absenteeism due to gastrointestinal illness in schoolchildren by 29-57%

More good info from the CDC!
