I was a little sad to see that my icon pack foregoes this feature, but I can't see myself using a different one. Delta icons on F-Droid has so much coverage (10k+), are free, and they're so clean looking.
Plus I'm using Chrono as my default clock and alarms.

This has been the case on most smart phones I’ve owned. It’s an interesting little detail that’s easily missed.

Even as far back as the first release of iPhone OS, I believe

The calendar got animations later iirc

Nope, as far back as iOS 7.
iOS 6 and earlier had a static clock.

You're right, I can't quite believe they've only added it with iOS 7, though.

It would've looked way cooler on the older versions, though.

I know it took them a while too, because I had to use tweaks on a jailbroken iPhone to get it

It is neat! I never noticed it until reading this comment just now, but yup, mine is showing the current time too. Pretty cool

And calendar too!

It probably changes the date on the calendar icon every day too.

Bruh I was super confused when I found that Ubuntu’s calender app doesn’t have its icon update

Hey! Mine does it too! I've never even noticed. This is neat. Thanks for sharing, OP!
