Mad World: Donnie Darko

Notyou@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 2y

This is a great answer.

cobysev@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 2y (2 replies)

That's actually a slow, dark cover song written exclusively for that film. If you listen to the original version by Tears for Fears, it's a much more energetic, happy-sounding song. You wouldn't even know it was dark unless you were paying attention to the lyrics.

corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 2y

You wouldn’t even know it was dark unless you were paying attention to the lyrics.

Or the minor key.

gotrandom@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 2y

Yeah I remember the Tears for Fears original, wasn’t a fan when I first heard it. It wasn’t until Michael Andrews/Gary Jules’ version that I became hooked.

Stuck In The Middle With You - Reservoir Dogs.

TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Had to do a high school speech presentation set to the song doing nonverbal dances.

The trauma has taken the place of the movie lol

sik0fewl@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 2y

The Touch - Transformers

meathorse@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Short Circuit 2 - Holding on for a hero.

Much more impactful than how it was used in Shrek 2.

Real stakes, life and death. Spoiler warning - clip spoils the climax of the movie...

gotrandom@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

Omg yes! I didn’t even think of this one until you mentioned it. I was so in love with those movies as a kid.

JoeKrogan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I stand corrected. 🏆

BoisZoi@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

No worries, it's a common misconception. It doesn't help that Nickelback was founded in 1995 and the song came out in 2002 iirc.

Cry Little Sister - The Lost Boys

Freebird will always bring back the Kingsman church scene.

Tuesday's Gone will always remind me of Happy Gilmore.

Back in 2000, I think you were practically brainwashed into linking Metallica with Mission: Impossible II.

It's a decent song but I seem to remember that summer its all I heard. 😄

goldenbug@kbin.social · 3 pts · 2y

This is the song that got me into rock and eventually metal

misk@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I remember that summer, stuck in the countryside, satellite TV being the only entertainment other than fucking around on my bike. I disappear and Take a look around are similarily linked in my mind.

UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 2y

I was always annoyed a little bit because I was a bigger Limp Bizkit fan and at least their song used the M:I theme music!

AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Not really a song, but Carmina Burana and Boorman's Exalibur (also bits of the Götterdämmerung I guess).
