Okay. That’s an interesting statistic.

Even if we take this number at face value, this is over a 20 year period, and worldwide.

Americans waste more than $408 billion each year on food, with dairy products being the food item we toss out the most. The average American family of four throws out $1,600 a year in produce.

Yeah 75% of my library of 1500 games is from humble bundles, so paying like 10% of regular price.

Still a neat stat though.

I feel it would be a lot more useful as trivia if we knew how much money that was per person as well.

And actual bought price, I think it used current market price. So lots of old games are going to be extremely undervalued.

Blxter@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 2y

Yea I bought one humble bundle (some earthquake relief or something) and now I have like 150 games I will never play....

If it makes Steam stay at #1 and stimulates development of titles we respect it's worth every penny.

And if some indie dev lasts a little bit longer because I threw away a few dollars, i'm all for it

WagnasT@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y

It's ok, I balance it out by playing some games I've never paid for.

RotatingParts@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 2y

It's okay since I only buy games on sale ... oh wait, that doesn't matter as they still sit unplayed. Never mind.

HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com · 3 pts · 2y

I could still play them.

Thcdenton@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

It's really great having some unplayed stuff that I try later.

Dirk@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 2y

... nor own.

moonburster@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Ever since I bought the steam deck and moved away from GaaS I've actually started to dent the library. Doesn't mean I will play everything. A lot of them were once fillers on bundles and not that great, but some truly were gems.
