Not to be confused with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M Company)

thefartographer@lemm.ee · 40 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Are they the ones who filled my blood with delicious PFAS???

cygnus@lemmy.ca · 50 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Officially: No.

Unofficially: [REDACTED]

I look forward to the day that corporations lose a lawsuit and openly admit that they poisoned all of humanity.

After that, I expect the corporations to sue all of humanity for harboring their IP. Of course, they'll win their case in a Texas court and will make multitudes more than they'll ever have to disburse in payouts

xmunk@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y

All the accusations just seem to slide right off of them.

rockSlayer@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2y

They were, Minnesota banned PFAS last year without warning to 3M so it's a very small consolation prize

Our testicles too!

"...and my balls!"

I live in Michigan and sell to manufacturers. This is terrific news to be in manufacturing sales in Michigan.

Chocrates@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 2y (17 replies)

I'm not a smart man, but Michigan seems pretty far away from the Ocean

MagicShel@programming.dev · 61 pts · 2y (8 replies)

I admire your honesty and capacity for self-reflection. But shipping is huge in the Great Lakes. You can also get to the Atlantic from them.

grue@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 2y (7 replies)

Fun fact: it's possible to circumnavigate the eastern half of the US via the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2y (5 replies)

That never occurred to me before and now I want to do it.

grue@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Me too, although politics is making me more interested in sailing away from the US at the moment.

Anyway, https://www.greatloop.org/

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I'm also looking into getting out, but I'd still love to do that. Very cool.

cygnus@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You can set off from Canada and still do that loop (just saying...)

grue@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

You can, but you're still spending the vast majority of your time in US jurisdiction (which is bad if it turns into a fascist dictatorship and you're trying to flee...).

Spot@startrek.website · 1 pts · 2y

Oo, oo, lemme drop this lil tidbit in too,

https://www.ic.org/directory/a-watership-down/

Current Focus: Ohio River (Cincinnati to Louisville) to Canada to Montreal (Quebec) to Nova Scotia to Maine] [Secondarily any of the great lakes or the ohio river; Mississippi still a possible]

A water-based, sustainable effort, with a view to a better quality of life. (tentative statement) disclaimer: almost all of this is planned; the only actuals are a couple of sailboats on the ohio river; there are no requirements for supporting one another

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I KNEW it!!!?!

cygnus@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 2y (2 replies)

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee...

NineMileTower@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

This is the song of my people.

cygnus@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y

As soon as that first verse comes in, every Canadian automatically leans back and nods their had in satisfaction. It's a genetic thing (we inject DNA therapy into immigrants at the border for those not born here)

NineMileTower@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y

I've been on a military sub in Michigan before: https://silversidesmuseum.org/

Give it a couple years.

someguy3@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

St Lawrence River and Erie canal, though I'm not sure how functional that one is.

They wanted to use "3M" but it turns out that one's already taken by a company that makes more red tape than all politicians alive or dead combined.

SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

And the Navy has already abandoned the 3M program, especially for anyone stationed near China

Wahots@pawb.social · 8 pts · 2y

Hell yeah, love to see this stuff :)

whyrat@lemmy.world · -23 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I guess we get used to all the announcements being "Biden-Harris" now?

catloaf@lemm.ee · 8 pts · 2y

Why? That's not new.

What does it matter, if a civil war breaks out

Netrunner@programming.dev · 7 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Are you going to reenact the civil war in your backyard or something?

Cuttlefish1111@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Not me, but There are many Christian Nationalists ready to. Plenty of 1/6 defendants to attest

Empricorn@feddit.nl · 6 pts · 2y (2 replies)

You... do know the government has armies, right? And drones and Intelligence and helicopters and machine guns and missiles...

Meal Team Six LARPers coordinating with their shotguns and single-shot rifles have no chance.

Cuttlefish1111@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

While it is comforting to know most of the military would keep their oath, some may not. Much more damage can be done with ARs. While for the most part I don’t believe the Trumpers will do much, some of them will

Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Let's hope so. The conservatives need to be put in their place from time to time.

GiddyGap@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y

Americans care too much about their cars and the junk they've spent decades collecting in their garages to start a civil war.
