Counterpoint to the other comment: Oooh, tomato soup!

To each their own :). I've never liked tomato soup, don't know why. I like pasta sauce.

I never liked tomato soup until I made my own.

I have, still not my thang. But I'm happy you like your own tomato soup!

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Ah yes, you must have used the only single recipe for tomato soup that exists. Oh well!

T00l_shed@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

I've made it a few ways, fwiw.

Childhood? I made this like 2 weeks ago

cjoll4@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

It's just one of those meals that makes me feel nostalgic. 😊 It's one of the few dinners I make that doesn't require any modifications from the way I had it as a kid in order to be meatless.

Made this the other day. Grilled cheese is good with cheddar—and it is, pretty objectively, "better"—but tbh I found myself pining for good ol' velveeta.

It's gotta be cheap American cheese slices all the way, baby. I prefer real (rennet-free) cheese for almost any other sandwich, but for a grilled cheese, there's no competing with Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product.

aka deconstructed pizza.

What ingredients were used to make the tomato soup? It looks good

cjoll4@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

I used Campbell's tomato soup as the base, but I added some extra flavor with dried ground basil and rosemary, and topped it with a sprinkle of parmesan and parsley

"Fuck you, that looks disgusting. Lemme try it to make sure it's not awful."

*slurping with mouth full of sandwich*

"Yeah, it's horrible. You wouldn't want any of this. In fact, I'm doing you a favor right now."

"Yeah, I'm crying right now because I ate it, not because it's gone."

For realsies, that looks insane and I'm super jealous. I hope it tasted even better than it looked!

Ewwww tomato soup!

Illegalmexicant@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I agree. But I grew up with it poured out of a can, room temp.

I've done the Campbell's thing, I've also made it from scratch. Not my jam. But that's ok! And I'm glad others like it! It certainly a fall comfort food.
