Ted: these are my shells now.

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (7 replies)

Can I have him 🥺

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (6 replies)

When can you come to pick him up?

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Saturday 9am

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Cool.

Is it ok he has knots/dags near his bum and he's a bit stinky? He really needs to go to the vet to get his dags clipped.

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Can you do that first please?

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I have tried , he attacked the brush and gave himself a very bad black eye. He also bites. I use kevlar gloves because he bites and bites hard. Just can't get near the area.

Floofy boy!

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Kinda want to draw him as Smaug on a hoard of shells

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 14 pts · 1y

I have un-grumpied my butt with cat cuddles, some food and making loud, discordant noises in the studio.

And everyone is now tucked in for some sleep. Goodnight ❤️

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 13 pts · 1y

So I went to the street yard sale that Thornbury posted about.

It was massive , cool and interesting.

Two types of sellers, those who want to clear stuff out of their house, those who are trying to make money.

Prices were generally high, often higher than Op shops.

Lots of kids stuff, lots of over priced old clothes. So many books and by the look of it no one was buying.

Few dvds, even fewer CDs and vinyls.

So what did I get. From an old guy who was clearing out a shed, a nutmeg grater, some antique glass bottle stoppers.

From another stall I got a pair of light weight cargo pants.

had a nice chat with a woman who fixes up old chairs and does sewing. 🙂

It was an ok day.

underwatermagpies@aussie.zone · 13 pts · 1y (5 replies)

The fluffy boi has been having testing on his kidneys, and the vet's incidentally found a serious heart condition. Poor little chicken. More expensive tests that I can't really afford to follow.

When will people learn. If your rubbish bin is overflowing, the birds will come with their mates and scatter your shit all over your nature strip and if it ends up on mine I will go out there and relocate it back onto yours with a huff so use your limp wristed hands and push that shit down so the lid sits flush. It's not every day you've got more than one hole in your butt (fucking skin ulcers!) and I'm trying not to be too Karenly with everyone. Hey, it's an up-and-down kind of year and everyone's entitled to be shitty!

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

You have every right to be shitty ❤️ Sometimes it can't be helped, and better out than in.

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 12 pts · 1y (7 replies)

The Gisele Pelicot case really makes my blood boil. All these gutless, horrible men who really do think women are chattel and that their consent means less than a man's entitlement to pleasure.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

they would treat other men badly too except they only abuse those who are physically weaker than they are

also, how come Giselle's doctor didn't look after her? That puzzles me so much.

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

These questions here too.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

I just read up on it because I was unfamiliar with the case. Good lord what a poor brave broken woman. The husband admitting guilt is of little comfort. What a hideous POS.

Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

I read this when it came out. Her husband, I have no words. No consent, the STDs… I am also in awe of her courage. I don’t think I’d be able to even leave a room let alone have contact with people ever again.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

What a fucking pig of a husband. I don’t even know what to say. That poor woman, and her courage

Edit: She obviously wasn’t moved to another location but would this count as something similar to human trafficking?

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

If those complete and utter POSs thought they were taking part in a sex game, then maybe the game wasn't sex so much as domination, and the whole point was the absence of the power to choose. Which to me indicates a very frail and fragile sense of their own masculinity. The husband should be executed imo. Preferably by lethal injection.

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y (9 replies)

I’ve just eaten almost a whole bag of Doritos and as a consequence am no longer hungry enough to have motivation to cook dinner. Maybe a toasted sandwich will do for today, with some fruit after. Healthy eating starts again tomorrow.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I’ve done that. It’s so easy to keep eating a bag of chips without stopping and before you know it the whole thing is gone.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (3 replies)

I put some chips in a little bowl and put a clip on the bag and put bag away

Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I do this but go back to the bag anyway. 😂

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

Of course, it's human nature. 🙂

I just don't buy chips anymore ever.

The past week has been bad for comfort eating tho. 😿

Duenan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I’m not sure I have that kind of restraint 😢😢

Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

Oh, hallo twin. This was me last week.

Eagle@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Duenan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (3 replies)

That was me last week I think or week before in a cafe.

Like seriously, get some headphones or something if you’re going to watch a video right next to me.

No word yet? Taking a bit to get the results.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Thanks mate, it is certainly frustrating!

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Downpipe at the p's fixed! Took about 2 mintues. Saved a few dollaridoos there.

A few days ago when I was there I said 'hey I'm going to try and fix it this way". He cracked the shits 'I MAKE THE DECISIONS AROUND HERE". Dude has acute NPD but there are work arounds. So I said okay you do it. So I pissed off down the bellarine.. Get a call:

Me: How's that pipe going Him: The pipe has fallen 10cm I can't do it. Getting a plumber in a few weeks.

I get back, go over today (while he's away).. Turns out he pulled the down pipe down and it disconnected from the gutter. I chuck it back on try and recreate what he did and he must've been trying to climb the thing. Easy fix.

So now I'm putting a mock invoice in his letter box:

Call out fee: $200 Labour: $300ph x 0.033 = $10 Materials: 4cm of 100mm PVC: $0.5 Use of toilet: -$1 Stealing a glass of wine: -$9

He will hate that. Apparently he spent an hour trying to do it.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I watch lord of the rings/tolkein podcasts and videos

and I listen to old BBC radio comedies , such as the Goon Show or Hancock's Half Hour

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Not something you’d expect, but American Dad. It’s mindless enough to semi-engage without getting too bored and while edgy it doesn’t seem to be enough to be genuinely upsetting.

And the lack of continuity/wacky hijinks resolving back to the status quo means it doesn’t matter about what order or whether the uploader has chopped it up into many out of context chunks.

I wouldn’t say I was a fan. In fact it’s easier to chuck on for background because I don’t care about following the show. But it’s something that’s kind of reliable to just watch when anxious or tired or flossing or gaming without worrying about closely following the plot or missing anything. It’s Comfortably Dumb.

Family Guy tries too hard though. Kinda lame. The offensive jokes aren’t even offensive to me, they’re just lazy.

blerp, case of the anxiety wobbles again today. Didn't help that today's viewing got cancelled at the last minute. LL has sent through rental ledger as requested, which is all okay, but it's pretty dumb that some part of my body now gets extremely tense every time I see her name in my inbox or I have to deal with her. Truly silly.

I have another viewing tomorrow that ticks lots of boxes but "Inspection is a must" and the sudden advertising of this property does make me wonder what's going on. Pics look a bit too good to be true. Wondering if it's a case of suspicious neighbours...

I’ll be honest, banning yourself from news helps me a lot because sometimes it’s just way too much for me.

I enjoy listening to my radio talk shows because in a bubble they have a rule for not talking about news in the world or politics for the most part.

I also have tools for some escapisms when I need it.

It’s not healthy to be connected constantly to bad news every day.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

some people are unaware of their luck or that other people within their sphere can be leading a completely different kind of life because they don't have the same privilege

many years ago I read one of Richard Wright's autobiographies, the one of him growing. He wrote how when he was older and famous he contacted some of his white classmates from high school to talk about life in the South.

Wright was treated poorly by his teachers, given no to little encouragement , not recommended for college. His classmates told him they were given every opportunity and encouragement and treated very nicely by their teachers. His white classmates had no clue the black students were treated differently by teachers as it was done in private.

I think many people who have carefree lives just have no clue that life is harder for other people. That accent, skin colour, family, school, suburb, opens and close doors and it's just luck

I don't blame people for being unaware of inequality. I wish everyone was treated well. I do blame people if they are bastards holding others down.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

I’m sorry dude. I’m in the same spot but doing the sad clown thing because really what else can I do.

I’d wish things to get better for you, but for some people they don’t and I don’t want to create even implied pressure to “get better”. Which in Australia seems to involve a lot of stiff upper lips and bootstrapping…

(A lot of the time people think they’re being encouraging but they’re doing toxic positivity and pushing you until you act in certain ways that they think you should or even hide your feelings. Also there’s nothing wrong with the way you feel. It’s a valid response to some inescapable circumstances.)

I won’t push you to seek professional help. It may or may not be available or affordable to you, you may not be able to find someone who can understand well enough to help, or you may even already be seeing someone. That’s none of my business and ultimately your choice.

What I will do is wish for you to get safely through these moments - if you feel that you can. I will hope that there will be moments of relief when this feeling will lighten.

I will tell you that there’s another person who feels very much the same and you’re not alone.

I will wish for something to shift so that you don’t have to feel like you don’t want to be here.

Losing the fight against some stupid broadleaf in the front yard lawn. MIL reckons I need to weed and feed it but a weekend 7 days after a mow but 7 days before the next mow with no rain is a bit much to ask for at the moment.

When I moved in the back yard was a dump. but what little kikuyu was there went nuts and within 2 years with basically no effort the kikuyu won and it now looks fantastic. Thinking I should just start transplant runners in the front yard and let it do its thing. Might take a few years but if it ends up half as good as the back yard I wont be complaining.

TinyBreak@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

My old man has been using Dicamba M recently which is a selective herbicide and it seems to be working so far. Not a fan of the shit but it's not harming the kikuyu (unlike glyphosate).

I've just been going around with a mattock removing it by hand and filling the holes with soil and some lawn food. Only problem this way is the green bin becomes super heavy very quickly.

TinyBreak@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Sadly I'd be digging up half the damn lawn. That isnt a joke, it is EVERYWHERE.

If anyone would like a pretty chill career change, get familiar with the CMS Drupal and hit up recruitment agencies to become a 'Digital Content Specialist'.

https://www.drupal.org/home

It's free and open source. You could buy some web hosting and install it through cPanel, then do enough Youtube courses to put it on your resume. All Victorian Government websites are on Drupal, and so are some Federal ones. You might be able to get a plush gig copying and pasting content from word docs to websites.

Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (2 replies)

That’s so good of you to post that.

Used to work with Joomla, but that was aeons ago.

Wouldn’t mind switching back to a plush gig. (Have a bit of a jack of all background that always is hard to put on paper, but easier to chat about. Might be a bit too out of the loop these days.)

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

That's where a decent recruiter can be really helpful. You talk to them and put your background in context and then they can advocate for you.

I've been placed by the recruiter that got me my upcoming role a couple of times. I had a 15 minute teams call with the client and they decided to pick me off that

Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y

Joking aside, for the past week and a half I've been playing between 8 and 18 hours a day ever day. I knew this game would be both bad and brilliant for my maths loving ADHD brain. Any ways, am awake, therefore must open game.

DuckyMcDuckface@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

As I also have ADHD, and am also an Engineering student, I am get that. I'd be playing more but one, end of sem is here, and Ive been on my bimonthly Terraria binge.

Harmonize with us. Listen to the rhythm. Live Laugh Consume.

End of the semester is the perfect time to play! Those assignments can wait, you'll definitely be able to smash them out the night before the deadline! You got this <3

Terraria is fun, I prefer Starbound though. Also "Planet Crafter" is incredibly fun if you want something more casual, that game holds a special place in our hearts (we played co-op).

Have you dabbled in Factorio?

indisin@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Once.

I opened Factorio in the morning and then the following morning when my partner got up we agreed that I should never open that game again. At least with Satisfactory I've managed to rope my partner in to playing too :D

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I looked at it but didn’t purchase it.

It scares me just looking at it, hearing your stories of Satisfactory doesn’t fill me with much hope.

indisin@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Factorio is far more intense with it being 2D and having regular attacks whilst managing your monstrosity.

Satisfactory is far more chill and 3D so you can enjoy just exploring, I found a power slug cavern recently and we're playing spoiler free and learning as we go.

Planet Crafter is pure chill but the same vibes. That game did more for my mental health than my psychologist haha.

They're all really fun and addictive games, and if you can do co-op with someone they're even better. I'm happy to buy you one of those if you throw me your steam ID so you can at least give one of them a go :)

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Oh that’s so kind of you.

My Pc’s a potato so I really play games on it anymore and certainly haven’t purchased anything to use on it for a long time.

I’m mainly a console gamer at the moment due to that.

I don’t think it’s be right to accept the offer unless I could do justice to it.

indisin@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

No worries! Let me know if you ever change your mind, I've already added the funds to my steam wallet and I'll only spend it on loot boxes otherwise haha.

Console gaming is fun too, I actually prefer it for open world RPGs. Whatcha playing atm?

Duenan@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y

Im mainly playing Metaphor:Refantazio at the moment.

Im casually playing Wingspan at the moment through Asynchronous play and in shorter bursts a couple of rougelike stuff depending on my mood. (Balatro, Shogun Showdown).

I have a work laptop is that actually handle stuff better but I don’t think I can play multiplayer with it because the network settings are locked down pretty hard on it.

Work so far has not been dreadful. I pray this continues

I've lost my voice. And I'm running an event that requires me to basically talk all weekend. This'll be interesting.
