Nah, I'm 32 and I prefer wired over wireless. Wired headphones, speakers, mouse, charging cords, etc. I hate the idea of airpods because I know I'll lose one, and I'm suss about Bluetooth tech. I dislike the possibility of Bluetooth headphones failing and everyone hearing whatever I'm playing, and I dislike Bluetooth because everyone can see you. I hate this wireless shit so much.

If I do up the bookshelf on the weekend I could be done with the entire living room area! Need to also do up the bedframe asap, bloody thing is so heavy and cumbersome. I'm definitely getting rid of it (donating/tip) once I move out of here
Thought I'd leave my West-facing bedroom window cracked open so it wouldn't be full of stale hot air during the day - bad idea. Will be kept open overnight then closed firmly shut with blinds all the way down tomorrow morning.

There were cats being territorial in my yard last night so I sent security out there twice to break up the biffin' or the rootin' whatever. He tears out the house rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Probably springtails, they’re attracted to damp so probably living in the paper. They’re harmless. Bedbugs wouldn’t live there. They like warm claustrophobic environments and want to be near people.
Put a layer of snail pellets on the base of the letterbox, then cover with a sheet of baking paper cut to size. Should stop any further snail invasions. And keep your mail nice and dry.
Plants have been acquired for next week's gardening bee. Now I need to do a rough plan of what goes where. I also got some mulch, but still need to get some fertiliser once I work out what type I want.
They are all native plants that are supposed to be ok with dry and full sun and I managed to keep them in the $10-$13 range , plus a few tubestock for $3.75.
Edit: They are all native plants except for a couple which were in the native plant section but Google tells me are actually from the Mediterranean.
Ahhh, the kind of retail therapy I love! I can't wait to get back into this some day, love the feeling of returning home with a large tray full of lovely plants to play with

I'm considering the logistics of a city bike more again. I was thinking of buying a cheap old bike off marketplace to ride between the station and work, but I couldn't figure out where to keep it locked up most of the week. I might be able to do it now if I can figure out that city spot now
A word from an experienced bike commuter. Get your city end parking sorted first if taking the bike all the way. Most stations have bike cages now - these are easy and cheap and most have cctv and are somewhat protected from the weather, but not from fellow bike cage users. Battery theft (for ebikes) is becoming a real problem from bike cages so plan on removing the battery and taking it with you should you use this facility. Some bike cages have basic bike repair tools available nearby (inner city).
I put my good bike in the bike cage near home. I'm thinking of a cheap bike that can be locked up near jolimont most of the week I could ride to and from the office and the station. There's good parking at the office, I just need station parking
Dunno where you'd park it. Given the proximity to the MCG, just chaining it to a fence isn't going to cut it with the council not to mention all the passers by. You might have better luck around West Richmond station. Even though the station is a pain to use with a bike due to the severe curve.
There could be bike loops near the station for the grounds. It's an easy ride in from North Richmond station as well, the ride along Albert Street is probably one of the safest you can do. But that area is a bit dodgy, even for an old bike
There are loops, but I for one would not use them for overnight storage. Agree that all that area is dodgy. The Epworth Hospital might be a better bet in that area - good cctv at least but there a lot of crazy drivers in a hurry and hunting a parking spot. And you see some really creative parking too. I'm talking about the Erin St entrance, not the Bridge Road one. Getting off Wellington Parade is a good idea - there are parking spots in East Melbourne side streets and it's a nicer area. Most of the inhabitants are not bike people so some tact in where you park your bike would be required.
There might be open bike parking in the hospital car park. Some car parks do have it and they're not going to notice a bike that moves around occasionally. I'll investigate more if I ever get the chance
after much sleep my arm is now useable and I can stay awake. These vaccinations knock me out which makes me wonder how I would I cope with getting actual covid.

Certainly not suitable as kids' ponies imo due to general oppositional attitude. I've seen so many kids scared out of horsemanship by a 'cute' shetland pony who got the wood over the kid from day one.
Don't know much about minis but I have a deep distaste for these mutants. Same as for munchkin cats - a human creation that isn't really viable as a cat but feeds the human preference for neoteny. Like dogs bred for extra 'cuteness' at the cost of their health and longevity. Too many spend their lives in constant pain as a result of their human preferred and encouraged disabilities. But they're cuuuuuute so will continue to exist to feed our human fantasies for pseudohumans that cannot grow up into true adults. Don't get me started on the whole concept of furbabies. I know this view isn't shared by a lot of people.
Commensal animals are NOT human - and we do them a huge disservice by pretending to ourselves that they are human babies. I’ve ordered some more seeds. Jack Be Little pumpkins, Tommy Toe cherry tomatoes and some cat grass seeds. Very cheap. I just wish the packets were a little smaller, I only have so many pots left.
The zucchini are growing a lot of adult leaves and already shaping up to be monsters. What have I done planting four of them… I only had 30cm pots as well. I still haven’t got the stakes and the pipes might not be tall enough.
I hope they go ok… pumpkins are apparently prone to mildew and attract pests. And I’m worried the pots are too small.
I was going to get Small Sugar pumpkins because they’re sweet and good for pies but checked the size of the fruit and it’s lucky that I did. Those are smaller than standard but 18cm/2kg would be a bit heavy for vertical growing.
I picked the Jack Be Little variety that seemed like they’d grow to the size of my fist and will support them with cut off stockings if I have to.
I considered the tiniest ones, Baby Boo, but they look very ornamental. Their description said they were edible but didn’t say they were good eating.
I grew the baby boo pumpkins last year. They were ok to eat, but a bit incipid. They made a decent individual stuffed pumpkin as long as you were relying on the filling for flavour and the pumpkin was mostly presentation.
Yeah. That’s a good thing in one way as you could just slice one or two in half and bake/microwave for a little bit of fresh pumpkin. But I wanted something that would taste nice

Plants have been acquired for next week's gardening bee. Now I need to do a rough plan of what goes where. I also got some mulch, but still need to get some fertiliser once I work out what type I want.
They are all native plants that are supposed to be ok with dry and full sun and I managed to keep them in the $10-$13 range , plus a few tubestock for $3.75.
Edit: They are all native plants except for a couple which were in the native plant section but Google tells me are actually from the Mediterranean.

Decided to take tomorrow off since I have 190 sick days and in combination of feeling crappy I’m not going to put up with people’s horrible attitude and shit.
I also went by Aldi, got some frankfurts, chips and a couple of bottles of wine and a meat lovers pizza to help me get through the weekend.

Was that the adjustment to align the julian and gregorian calendars???? Cos it happened a lot later in the UK than everywhere else - like 200 years or so and was finally done in April I vaguely recollect from history lessons.

I can see why bad experiences make women want to pursue other options. We went to a natural birthing class with a doula and even in that class there was a vibe of not going to the hospital.

One of my least favourite things that Americans do is ask why characters are speaking with a British accent, in a game made by a non-American developer based in a country that does not have English as the first language.

I'm considering the logistics of a city bike more again. I was thinking of buying a cheap old bike off marketplace to ride between the station and work, but I couldn't figure out where to keep it locked up most of the week. I might be able to do it now if I can figure out that city spot now

A word from an experienced bike commuter. Get your city end parking sorted first if taking the bike all the way. Most stations have bike cages now - these are easy and cheap and most have cctv and are somewhat protected from the weather, but not from fellow bike cage users. Battery theft (for ebikes) is becoming a real problem from bike cages so plan on removing the battery and taking it with you should you use this facility. Some bike cages have basic bike repair tools available nearby (inner city).

I put my good bike in the bike cage near home. I'm thinking of a cheap bike that can be locked up near jolimont most of the week I could ride to and from the office and the station. There's good parking at the office, I just need station parking

Dunno where you'd park it. Given the proximity to the MCG, just chaining it to a fence isn't going to cut it with the council not to mention all the passers by. You might have better luck around West Richmond station. Even though the station is a pain to use with a bike due to the severe curve.

There could be bike loops near the station for the grounds. It's an easy ride in from North Richmond station as well, the ride along Albert Street is probably one of the safest you can do. But that area is a bit dodgy, even for an old bike

There are loops, but I for one would not use them for overnight storage. Agree that all that area is dodgy. The Epworth Hospital might be a better bet in that area - good cctv at least but there a lot of crazy drivers in a hurry and hunting a parking spot. And you see some really creative parking too. I'm talking about the Erin St entrance, not the Bridge Road one. Getting off Wellington Parade is a good idea - there are parking spots in East Melbourne side streets and it's a nicer area. Most of the inhabitants are not bike people so some tact in where you park your bike would be required.

There might be open bike parking in the hospital car park. Some car parks do have it and they're not going to notice a bike that moves around occasionally. I'll investigate more if I ever get the chance

Bleh, some people are just so unpleasant to talk to. Rude, arrogant, bossy and at times inadvertently mean.
Normally don't need to talk to them but had to today and it was unpleasant as predicted, thankfully I'm not the only one who has the same opinion but dealing with someone like that really sours the day.
I think it's just nudged me further into actually taking a sick day tomorrow.

Because the US is literally one of the most powerful nations and militaries on Earth, and they have a rapist, treasonous, failed businessman as a president. During a time when Russia has decided to stretch itself into a facsimile of it's Roman Empire inspiration of conquer and assimilate, Israel and Palestine are going at it really fucking hard, and they all (besides Palestine) have nuclear weapons.
Yeah, I think we're allowed to be vocally critical of them.

It's Australia's choice to follow the news about the prejudices of America and the choice of foolish and misguided and even hateful people to act on those prejudices. We could choose to be ourselves, we could choose to report and focus on many European countries and aspire to have many of the same social policies.
But I think the main reason American news and social movements, for the good and bad, are reported on and followed are because we share the same language, English.

::: spoiler unpopular opinion Shetland ponies are bonsai carthorses. With extra attitude. I've had a fair bit to do with them over the years - I have a lot of respect for them but not much affection. Little turds. It's the floof factor that tolls in the general public, and is highly deceptive as a guide to general character. They're smarter than most humans and a whole lot stronger. Certainly not suitable as kids' ponies imo due to general oppositional attitude. I've seen so many kids scared out of horsemanship by a 'cute' shetland pony who got the wood over the kid from day one.
Don't know much about minis but I have a deep distaste for these mutants. Same as for munchkin cats - a human creation that isn't really viable as a cat but feeds the human preference for neoteny. Like dogs bred for extra 'cuteness' at the cost of their health and longevity. Too many spend their lives in constant pain as a result of their human preferred and encouraged disabilities. But they're cuuuuuute so will continue to exist to feed our human fantasies for pseudohumans that cannot grow up into true adults. Don't get me started on the whole concept of furbabies. I know this view isn't shared by a lot of people.
Commensal animals are NOT human - and we do them a huge disservice by pretending to ourselves that they are human babies. We owe them the respect of treating them in accordance with their species - not trying to force them into a human mould and a pretty horrible and exploitative human mould at that.

The press here has been anti usa ever since founding in the early 19th C. It's so we don't get ideas about freedom and revolution and breaking ties with the UK. Also why they banned guns in the 1850s, don't want a repeat of the Eureka Stockade and more, eh.
Interestingly, accepted public opinion is that England is ok and America is awful but in real life Aussies don't like English people and do like Americans. ( generally speaking )

I popped up to Northland at about 2 because I needed a couple of things. I expected it to be dead as usual on a weekday arvo. It was total bedlam. I guess a combo of the sales and the heat, neither of which had really registered with me.
I survived, but I'll be trying not to enter a shopping centre again between now and at least mid-Jan.

I’ve ordered some more seeds. Jack Be Little pumpkins, Tommy Toe cherry tomatoes and some cat grass seeds. Very cheap. I just wish the packets were a little smaller, I only have so many pots left.
The zucchini are growing a lot of adult leaves and already shaping up to be monsters. What have I done planting four of them… I only had 30cm pots as well. I still haven’t got the stakes and the pipes might not be tall enough.

I hope they go ok… pumpkins are apparently prone to mildew and attract pests. And I’m worried the pots are too small.
I was going to get Small Sugar pumpkins because they’re sweet and good for pies but checked the size of the fruit and it’s lucky that I did. Those are smaller than standard but 18cm/2kg would be a bit heavy for vertical growing.
I picked the Jack Be Little variety that seemed like they’d grow to the size of my fist and will support them with cut off stockings if I have to.
I considered the tiniest ones, Baby Boo, but they look very ornamental. Their description said they were edible but didn’t say they were good eating.

I grew the baby boo pumpkins last year. They were ok to eat, but a bit incipid. They made a decent individual stuffed pumpkin as long as you were relying on the filling for flavour and the pumpkin was mostly presentation.
