might have to actually call them, or go to the GPO - lpo are franchisees, I don't see them having the authority to kick it up.
I somewhat get it. I moved out as a minor and had some of this nonsense. Difference was I had a lawyer for a father who could hand over a business card and mostly make the shit go away. Sorry.
It's just that you keep putting it on them, as if they need to be the one to "turn things around" when their rant was specifically about external systems prejudicing them. They can't "turn around" AusPost's decision to deny them the ability to redirect their mail?
Basically, they are trying to ask these systems for help, and are being denied. So why put it on their shoulders? Why not be outraged that someone is falling through the gaps, through no fault of their own?
I get that you have good intentions here, but I feel like you're kind of missing the point in a big way...
Meeting over! 2.5 hours later, I'm so exhausted. There was a few times I felt like I was giving garbled answers to questions asked on the spot, and also being in full focus for that long is pretty tough. I think I deserve a takeaway pizza tonight and a night off any cooking.
Big work meeting this afternoon. I mean BIG, there's a lot on the line. I'm as prepared as I can be and a bit more prep this morning. I was feeling super nervous about it yesterday. Calmer on waking up this morning but the nerves are coming back. Deep breaths help - I will be fine, it will go fine.

Completely understandable. I keep listening to new music and thinking to myself "this isn't better than the 100,000 songs I already have in my library" and falling back on that stuff.
I have a playlist that's literally called "new music that doesn't suck", and even that is 5+ years old. Not new at all according to the kids.
I'd also note that the excuse for the gambling reform delays "Oh we need to get this legislation and reform right and that will take time" does not at all match the embarrassing rush to get the Social Media ban passed.
Guess Meta should have spent more money advertising on Free to Air huh?
My manager said I'm good to work from home this week until my ankle heals up. It's the sort of thing that puts you in that weird spot where I can work but I can't deal with the hassle of getting to the office.
I'll arrange a tele-appointment to get an x-ray referral just to make sure nothing's wrong as it still hurts
Ankle proprioception ex can just be using a tennis ball at your desk and trying to write the alphabet with your foot. Or standing on some form of wobble board.
Finished S3 of the Taskmaster Australia. Really grown fond of the show was looking forward towards S4. Found out that David Hughes will be on it, and it's completely killed my excitement for it.
David Hughes is a hard no from me. It's not just the voice, it's also the general attitude. He's a cutterdown, not a lifterup and I'm too old to bother with that shit. Reminds me too much of those dreadful US tv sitcoms that play in pizza parlours. A theatre of casual cruelty, not even comedy/tragedy, punctuated with insane mechanical laughter.
I have no idea who she is. Had to look her up, triple J presenter? Probably a bit rough cause that's maybe a bit of a turn off to anyone older than triple J age.
Basil has been trimmed and moved into it's new pots. The one at the front doesn't look to have a good root system, which is why it is trimmed so much - I won't be surprised if it just dies anyway. The other two had good healthy roots, so I expect big things from them! The trimmed leaves have been chopped up and frozen in oil in ice cube trays.
I bought two punnets of lettuce seedlings. They seem to do well for me and we eat them up. Other garden stuff is doing well too. Mostly tidying really.
and the young Seagoons will be coming to Australia in 10 days to stay with us ๐ I better get everything ready. So excite.
They always start with a few boys, just in case there is already another plant around with the resources to produce fruit. They tend to do the same when they start dying off - as far as zucchini are concerned men are cheap!
I found with only a couple of plants that having a male and female flower at the same time could be difficult You can put the stamen of a male flower into a plastic bag in the fridge for a day or two and use it to pollinate a female flower later. If you don't have enough bee action around you might need to hand pollinate even when you can get the flowers synchronised.
I haven't planted zucchini this year as I'm winding the garden down in anticipation of the place being sold next year, but I did pick up a bunch of zucchini at the food cupboard this morning. I can probably count it as a return on the zucchini I donated last year when my plants were producing.
We're all just a reproduction tool for our DNA. Some of use get to live interesting and meaningful lives whilst engaged in that reproduction, others are just gonads.
Last year we did Whamageddon and whatever Mariah's one is, but all of us have heard Mariah in the last week before December started, so we vetoed that one ๐๐
Ooh ooh ooh I'm in. I don't go to colesworth much and have done all the kmart shopping I need for this place (hopefully), and won't be taking any taxis/ubers this month, so I THINK I might have a crack at surviving this one.
Seems like being away for a month didn't impact shit too heavily. No ferts in the last month either and the watering seems alright with no drama / edema. Phew.
That piece of mind the watering sys. gives is priceless.
Also saw about a dozen ladybugs so aphids are a non issue (for now).
Lots of smaller self sown chilli plants from last year just popping up now was a nice surprise.
tbh this was the best time to be away, it's sunny / raining / sunny / raining so the garden needs very little intervention if you've got your soil right
Morning plans: mow grass. remove excessive amount of fennel from the front garden. plant some volunteer cherry tomato seedlings along the front fence. pot up some basil plants from the supermarket in the hope they can regrow. somewhere in there I should do washing too.
^look, you know more about content than I do but I know more about cinema equipment than you do. I'm not being fucking obstructionist, what the vendor is asking for isn't something they need and it's a fucking red flag. No, don't give them the fucking information regardless you gurning hemorrhoid, sit the FUCK down and let me handle it. You know, like you pay me to^.
If I rang to schedule something on Monday and they said they'd call me back and they haven't, would today be ok to call back? One thing I hate is seeming to be pushy. Is 2 days enough time? It's a busy time of year so I totally understand it.
It really depends on what that something is, but if it's something like your regular bikini wax it's totally reasonable. I usually err on the side of calling because delays are usually the result of a fuckup. Gotta be on the ball to make stuff happen.
Melbcat just accidentally almost yanked my earring out. I think she got her claw hooked and just pulled. Woke up to my earlobe being painfully stretched and my sleeper had popped open under pressure - I then had to literally unhook her claw from it.
Itโs a bit sore so perhaps there was a tiny scratch or tear inside the piercing from the earring. Iโve washed it with soap and water and used some Betadine because my earlobe piercings are super prone to getting infected
I wish I was able to eat vegetarian. I wish I was able to eat properly at all. I could min max budget vs nutrition so hard.
I really miss when I used to clean my house nonstop and meal prep.

I was so efficient back before I deteriorated. Especially when I wasnโt constantly being forced to exist under intolerable loads of stress and constantly manage around other peopleโs dysfunction.
:::
The male zucchini flowers are wilting and dying alreadyโฆ despite the fact that some female flowers are budding and will soon open. Iโm just hoping that I get a mix at the same time because the longevity on them isnโt looking good.
::: spoiler spoiler
The plants also seem a bit young/small to be flowering and fruiting yet. I saw a neighbourโs plants and who knows they could be full sized pumpkin plants, but the plants and blooms looked bigger. I wonder if Iโm planting all my ish too late. Itโs not like I have full control over that though.
:::
The dishes got soaked in dish soap, bicarb and a kettle of boiling water. Quick scrub then soaked again overnight in dish soap, vinegar and boiling water. I put bicarb down the drains too. Maybe theyโre ready for a hot soapy normal wash and air dry.
I tried to strip the bed but furbaby jumped onto it to save the shared scentsโฆ she then went to eat so the second attempt was successful.
::: spoiler spoiler
When itโs time I keep a clean fitted sheet ready at the end of the bed. When she moves off I unhook the bottom corners, hook the clean ones corners then pull the fresh one up/onto the mattress while rolling the old one up/off in one movement. Itโs fast enough that if I wait til sheโs distracted I have most of it on before she jumps onto the middle and I can just secure the last two corners.
:::
I really need to vacuum sweep and mop but am really low on energy right now. Iโm mainly focusing on laundry
I think you're doing great!! You don't have to do ALL the chores in one day, and soaking the dishes is such a great idea (I might steal that when the executive dysfunction plays up again)!
Vacc and sweep can wait till your spoons have replenished! Such a great job! Seriously! ๐๐๐
Chores are all just so backed up because Iโve been really depressed/struggling physically and havenโt had help for a few weeks.
Soaking is great but beware. If you donโt do it in a timely manner the problem becomes exponentially worse by having added the water. This is what happened here.
Ideally you fill the sink with dishes and soapy water as hot as you can get it from the tap, even adding a kettleful of boiling water if you like (careful of glass), and then go do something else or rest a little while until it cools to a normal level of hot. About the temp you can wash it with rubber gloves. This will loosen everything up and kill a lot of germs, makes it much easier to scrub clean. (Of course I rinse too. Usually a quick swish under the running tap then set at an angle in the rack to let all the water drip off and air dry.)
But if you donโtโฆ prepare for a feculent mouldering swamp, much remediation and even discarded items
My many new plant friends arrived in the mail today. It was almost a disaster - I received the notification they had been delivered, but there was no sign of them. Fortunately I eventually found them in the carport behind my car.
They have had a tough journey, but they are now relaxing in my seed raising area under the grow lights. Hopefully the basil makes them feel welcome.
It might be a challenge to identify all of them as some of the writing has rubbed off the pots.
Am trying to snap myself out of my visceral distaste for the kitchen, had a bit of time in between work and appt and ducked into my old f & v store to hurriedly buy a bunch of basic veg. I am flat out until Sunday but I can't be spending money on another week of premade meals, gonna start making some basic shit even on Sunday itself if I have to.
I have:
:::spoiler inventory
veg: two carrots, two zucchini, two sticks of celery, two small bunches of asparagus, one leek, one green pepper, one broccoli, and a quarter of a red cabbage. Two big onions and a head of garlic.
For carbs, I have pasta, rice, soba noodles. Maybe some old potat (it might be a bit too old, I'll have to check).
For protein, toor daal, masoor daal, chana dal, moong dal, urad dal, black eyed beans, black lentils. Dried mushrooms. Six eggs. Dried cashews. TVP (chunks and mince).
Have heaps of spices and some dried 'erbs and various sauces and oils.
:::
Time to make like an RPG character/creative uni student and try and craft a few easy one-pot meals out of all the above. Really quite a few options there if I put my mind to it. STILL MOURNING NOT HAVING A DISHWASHER
There are rice cooker meals if youโre interested? I think I saw one recipe with vegetables and cubed tofu. (Savor Delights is on Tik Tok but I refuse to get the app to consistently be able to watch them. So I found a link elsewhere.)
You can grate veg instead of chopping to make it cook faster and use less prep space, buy pre chopped or use frozen veg to avoid chopping at all. TVP is a no drain no chop substitute for tofu if desperate.
If you have no rice cooker an electric frypan or a normal skillet does fine
I've got a rice cooker but I would die without it (it's old and second hand but a good brand), don't want to risk somehow messing it up with anything fancier than takikomi gohan in it once in a while.
With one pot meals, I don't mind making rice separately to that - one big batch is worth cleaning the rice cooker pot and inserts for (and I never washed them in the dishwasher so I'm used to doing that by hand, at least).
Thatโs valid. I even used to make one pot meals in a saucepan with a lid. Maybe you can get a basic beater you donโt really care about from the op shop and donate it back when you move.
Making separate rice and viands means there will be enough for a few meals which reduces washing.
Storage is annoyingโฆ I found saucepans can fit in the oven for storage but I had to take the lids off (as I left the oven racks in). You can hang pots as well

I'm paying attention. I'm not up with the new music is all.

When able to weight bear, you could lookup some ankle proprioception exercises to increase your ankle dexterity, reducing chance of re-injury.

Finished S3 of the Taskmaster Australia. Really grown fond of the show was looking forward towards S4. Found out that David Hughes will be on it, and it's completely killed my excitement for it.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y
David Hughes is a hard no from me. It's not just the voice, it's also the general attitude. He's a cutterdown, not a lifterup and I'm too old to bother with that shit. Reminds me too much of those dreadful US tv sitcoms that play in pizza parlours. A theatre of casual cruelty, not even comedy/tragedy, punctuated with insane mechanical laughter.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Basil has been trimmed and moved into it's new pots. The one at the front doesn't look to have a good root system, which is why it is trimmed so much - I won't be surprised if it just dies anyway. The other two had good healthy roots, so I expect big things from them! The trimmed leaves have been chopped up and frozen in oil in ice cube trays.

My zucchini have two fullblown flowers now, theyโre both male flowers but more are budding.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y
The fruits will both be male too ๐
RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
I think you're doing great!! You don't have to do ALL the chores in one day, and soaking the dishes is such a great idea (I might steal that when the executive dysfunction plays up again)!
Vacc and sweep can wait till your spoons have replenished! Such a great job! Seriously! ๐๐๐
melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

I have: :::spoiler inventory veg: two carrots, two zucchini, two sticks of celery, two small bunches of asparagus, one leek, one green pepper, one broccoli, and a quarter of a red cabbage.

There are rice cooker meals if youโre interested? I think I saw one recipe with vegetables and cubed tofu. (Savor Delights is on Tik Tok but I refuse to get the app to consistently be able to watch them. So I found a link elsewhere.)
You can grate veg instead of chopping to make it cook faster and use less prep space, buy pre chopped or use frozen veg to avoid chopping at all. TVP is a no drain no chop substitute for tofu if desperate.
If you have no rice cooker an electric frypan or a normal skillet does fine
just_kitten@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y
I've got a rice cooker but I would die without it (it's old and second hand but a good brand), don't want to risk somehow messing it up with anything fancier than takikomi gohan in it once in a while.
With one pot meals, I don't mind making rice separately to that - one big batch is worth cleaning the rice cooker pot and inserts for (and I never washed them in the dishwasher so I'm used to doing that by hand, at least).
melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y
Thatโs valid. I even used to make one pot meals in a saucepan with a lid. Maybe you can get a basic beater you donโt really care about from the op shop and donate it back when you move.
Making separate rice and viands means there will be enough for a few meals which reduces washing.
Storage is annoyingโฆ I found saucepans can fit in the oven for storage but I had to take the lids off (as I left the oven racks in). You can hang pots as well
