Don't forget the classic.

"NCC-1701. No bloody A, B, C, or D."

To be fair, most people know the enterprise but have no idea there are letter designations. But I still like this meme.

bisby@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 1y (2 replies)

To be fair the meme format is supposed to be saying 1 word that applies to multiple things. The joke is much funnier if the answer to "name 5 starships" is "the enterprise" because absurdity. Naming 5 different ships isn't a joke, that's just answering the question with a list.

trolololol@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Mate, I'd have gone with simply enterprise enterprise enterprise enterprise enterprise

OG built in the 1970s, followed by nx-01. Gotta be chronological right

SatyrSack@feddit.org · 2 pts · 1y

To be fair, the format originally followed more closely to the actual source material, in which the second panel would read "Okay, name one X" and the third panel would mention the one most incredibly obvious answer. Which would still just be "Enterprise" in this case.

hopesdead@startrek.website · 8 pts · 1y

That is the whole point:

[…]most people people know the enterprise

Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de · 19 pts · 1y (4 replies)

, F, and G

...and the NX-01

..and the XCV 330

... if we're limiting things to interstellar ships.

ummthatguy@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 1y (3 replies)

We don’t talk about the J

hopesdead@startrek.website · 9 pts · 1y (2 replies)

What is this from? I forgot about “Azati Prime”.

ummthatguy@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y (1 reply)

First mentioned in ENT s3e18 Azati Prime. Involves time shenanigans, so I won't spoil. Rest assured, it's really only a brief namedrop.

Edit: you got it

Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1y

Enterprise is basically synonymous with “really important ship”

ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social · 12 pts · 1y

To be totally fair, if someone knew of the existence of all these ships, that's pretty deep in Trek lore already.

grue@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1y

That’s named after the Lakota war leader of the Oglala from the 19th century.

A lot of vessels are named after real people.

viper_h@lemy.lol · 1 pts · 1y

Lakota was also a starship, in DS9's 'Homefront' and 'Paradise Lost'. It's was an Excelsior refit like the Enterprise B.

Ophioparma@feddit.org · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

He even named six ships.

hopesdead@startrek.website · 1 pts · 1y

That says Enterprise A, not Enterprise, A.
