I was under the impression that some smart thermostats need batteries because the "power to the thermostat" wire was designed for super low power devices, or is otherwise not there at all (thus the different number of wires). So "already wired with everything you need" varies from house to house.
This sounds a lot like what I want to have done. my biggest issue has been figuring out which thermostat to buy? Finding a zigbee vs zwave vs wifi model. Do I need to have 4, 5 or 6 wires or something? Do I need to re-run wires in my wall if I have the wrong number available?
Even just having a manual read-out and the ability to remotely manually change settings would be a win. Everything about this dashboard looks cool to me, but even without the smart auto changing of settings, I want this, but just dont want to spend money and buy the wrong thing.
And the funny part about this meme is that in the book it highlights this... The witch king pauses like ".. wait does that count?" And that hesitation is why merry gets the drop on him.

Open source for a lot of people is the option to drop in and help when you can, but for maintainers, it can be a huge commitment. I totally get why after almost 8 years, people would be ready for moving on.

While the game was live, it was shown in a replay and I kept saying "I still don't see it" because I wasn't sure where to look or when. It was after the game I saw a clip with the foot highlighted before I saw it.

Spain won and is the better team, so we don't need to get all worked up about a goal being called back. 2-0 or 1-0, Spain won. Did Argentina overly flop for this? Yeah I've never flown into the air crying like that from having my foot stepped on. But also, did he get his foot stepped on? Yes. Is that against the rules? Yes. Was this a valid call to make? Yes.
Biases go both ways, Spanish coverage is naturally going to want this to count. Argentine coverage is naturally going to highlight other plays they disagree on the commentating on. All of the Spanish clips I've seen conveniently start AFTER the foot stepping. The play continued for long enough that it was easy to miss (especially if you didn't go back far enough)
This was a legitimate call. If anything, the bigger referee mistakes were in NOT calling other issues throughout the game.
it confuses me because I have my own internal model of what i was trying to do. I know what I'm capable of. Executing on my capabilities doesn't seem praiseworthy.
If I'm capable of 95%, and I only execute at 90%, then I feel like I've done poorly. But if everyone else is only executing at 75% then just because my model says "I could have done better" it can still feel weird getting praise, even if it is "justified"
Add a clause that says an equivalent federal tax would nullify this tax. And then use this until the national one passes. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough for now
My last update to vidcutter was from 2025 (based on my pacman logs). Some tools will scan for "did you install the bad package during the bad time period" and some will scan for "is the bad package name installed at all" - so i was able to identify that vidcutter was installed and I knew that the package names looking familiar made sense, and I was able to manually confirm that I was still clean. And now I have a lot of system pruning to do.
But if you thing some packages look familiar, it might be worth double checking.
Oh fun. I had one of the packages installed, but not an infected version, and I hadn't updated it during the window.
Feels like a great reminder to keep a clean minimal system. Why I was keeping vidcutter installed and up to date when the last time I ran it was probably years ago.

I'm not an expert on the rules but it seemed like stepping on feet is a valid reason to call the play dead
