[meta] there is no infuriating community so this community is now just regular infuriating bad news that piles to the top of !all

Community Rule 7. Content should match the theme of this community.

  • Content should be Mildly infuriating.

  • At this time we permit content that is infuriating until an infuriating community is made available.

if the subtext wasn’t obvious, this is my call for someone to consider making or promoting said community :3

There's !furiouslyinfuriating@sh.itjust.works but it doesn't seem to be very active.

You could also start one; seems like there's plenty of fodder for it (recent events considered). .cafe would probably be a good place for it, too, since it's not one of the super-large instances and is defederated from the extreme 3.

Please make it elsewhere, our local feed is very chill and fits the instance name, something furiously infuriating does not 😅

Fair point. I wasn't considering instance ethos, just relative size and federation policy.

To be honest, at this stage I just consider LW as the mega instance, it just dwarves anything else in terms of popular communities: https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active

9/10 top 10 communities are on LW, so SJW or lemm.ee could definitely be a good suggestion

barsoap@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

You'd quickly run afoul of lemm.ee's "don't cause the admins headaches" rule I think.

Blaze@lemmy.cafe · 1 pts · 1y

Could be, the communities I have on lemm.ee are about movies and TV shows, so pretty chill in that regard.

Which ones are the extreme 3?

ptz@dubvee.org · 7 pts · 1y (4 replies)

hex, .ml, and 'grad'

lena@gregtech.eu · 2 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Thanks, I've already defederated from hex and grad, but I want my users to have a good experience with Lemmy, wouldn't want to block such a huge instance as ml

ptz@dubvee.org · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Yeah, it took me a while to fully divest from ml and get my instance subscribed to alternatives, but it's been worth it.

lena@gregtech.eu · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

You can use a subscriber bot like this one for it.

ptz@dubvee.org · 4 pts · 1y

Eh, those are fine for some people, but I've always preferred to let my instance grow organically. Basically everything that shows up here is something someone has subscribed to and wants to see. Quality over quantity and all that. I develop Tesseract and use that as the default frontend, and it makes it very easy for users to find and subscribe to communities (can browse remote instances, search them for communities, and one-click subscribe).

There is now an Actually Infuriating community on Lemmy! Post things that are beyond just mildly infuriating. It's only mildly infuriating that someone didn't make this sooner!

Actually Infuriating

Mildly is subjective. [Plenty of people find this whole post more than mildly infuriating but did something drastically different than you]
