Absolutely a great community! There are a lot of scripts, etc. that people offer (like this post). That's one of the best things about HA. For someone who's not very techy, none of that is easy, unfortunately. For me, I know that if I spend the time to learn how to do something, I know I will get plenty of support from the community - I just have to decide whether the improvement is worth the time it will take to learn and implement it. Also, whether it is worth messing up my current setup, since I will almost certainly make some mistakes along the way.
One of my big disappointments with HA is the lack of well-developed user controls for this type of thing. I'm not a coder, so just a simple trigger like "turn on the driveway lights when I get home" was an achievement.
I would have to spend months learning and deploying any kind of smart features, even though HA has the hardware and controls to do all of it. I basically use it as a remote to control the thermostat, which is pretty lame. It does come in handy when we go on a trip.
There was a study on boredom that found people who did NOT want to be shocked. They put them in a room with nothing to do for 15 minutes, and if I recall, about half or the people voluntarily shocked themselves for something to do.
Big +1 for LRCGET. It is extremely powerful and dead simple to use. I'm generally able to point it at a directory and press go. It will return lyrics about as accurately and reliably as any manual search, and it has the (experimental) ability to embed the lyrics as well.
I prefer embedded lyrics, since I know that they will be available and inseparable from the files regardless of what my library looks like in the future.
