Antacids are the oldest effective medications for heartburn. Chalk (calcium carbonate) has been chewed for centuries to provide some relief and is still popular.

Ok, but just one more bar of soap. I can stop anytime.

Just a little bit of wine will work in many cases. The issue is usually an overactive microbe and ideal fermentation conditions for runaway conversion of sugar. A good wash of alcohol can slow them down or kill off a large fraction without totally destroying most of your stomach microbiome.
I used to use Tums to boost Adderall uptake, but it has negative effects that last for a few days while the body recovers to homeostasis. When I started riding a bicycle everywhere it became a big deal because I needed the calories that my body wasn't able to absorb well after.
Of all things, in the New Testament, there is a scripture where Paul tells Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach problems; in 2nd Corinthians IIRC. That is probably one of the only passages I still find half useful.
