That's basically what we do in vipassana meditation.

That is to say, your awareness is mostly under the control of a bunch of habits. You are always habitually moving your awareness this way, that way, sticking it there or there.

Thinking is mostly comprised of that. Reacting to a thought by moving your awareness to another thought and then to another thought and so on. An endless chain of reactions.

In vipassana we get a handle on that. Get less reactive. Dissolve habits. Get more awake.

It's a pretty good high too.
