Sitting issues

Hi all, how do you manage to sit for long periods of time ?

I'm having trouble staying still after 25/30mn. After that my right leg gets so numb, I've got to move it every once in a while. I'm not sure it really is an issue, but even if I try ti stay focused on my meditation while moving, it's always a distraction. Fyi : I sit crossed legs with my butt on a cushion.

Thanks !

Try sitting differently. Experiment.

I used to sit like you do. Then it started being uncomfortable so I switched.

Now I use a seiza bench. Like this

It does get better over time. I find using a real good cushion helps a lot, any semi hard surface like carpet gets real uncomfortable after a while.

I have a japanese futon which remains quite comfortable

Mu cushion is one filled with grain (it's confortable but a little small I reckon), which is laying on a carpet, I'll look into that (maybe add a yoga mat ?). Hopefully I'll get used to it. thanks

If something is going numb it’s because something is wrong.

Talk to a good physical therapist to try to figure out how to fix that.

I don't think you've got to get check by a therapist every time you get numb limbs from staying still for too long. that's just a pinched nerve or some blood flow restriction from some presure on my butt :) Just a posture/sit issue. haha, I'll be fine, don't worry.

Probably constricting blood flow somewhere in the legs. Sitting different should already help.
