I’ve seen comments like this in Lemmy and I truly have to wonder is their translation program really screwed up? Or what the hell is going on. Given it’s not back-and-forth comments like this. But I’ve seen comments where peoples words are so far out of order you can’t understand what they’re saying.

basically it is correct in the U.S.

the line where they stop helping you is low and the line where you can actually make it on your own is above that. so they stop helping you but you have a very difficult time to get to the point where you can actually survive. so you wind up back on social welfare programs (or homeless). the system is broken in the aspect. has been for as long as i've been alive (born in the 70's) .

they need to use a scale and use that scale to help you move out of the welfare programs. so the more you make the less you get, but it isn't a hard cut off point. and the program needs to have incentives to help you get training to get a job so you don't need the help.

not very many people want to live on social welfare, they want to fend for themselves but the system is broken in a way that traps people.

as for it being a form of resistance. that i'm not sure what you mean by that. do you mean a form of the people resisting against the government? then no it isn't a form of resistance.

Great then get the democrats to vote against data centers. I’ve tried. Over and over again. They keep saying “yeah we’ll stop the data centers or at least put a pause on them” then they do nothing. So at this point… I’m doing what is needed to stop the data centers: so start making calls to the democrats and help fix this. Or I’ll vote for those that will. And to be honest I do not want to vote for a Republican.

Any politician who says they are for a data center moratorium. In other words, no new data centers. For a period of at least 10 years while we do an environmental economical and health study I’m voting for.

For the record, I tend to vote, pure democratic line. But if the Republicans came out in favor of this going against data centers. I’m sorry I’d be voting for them. And any politician who knocks on my door or any of their door knockers that they have out here I tell them that. I don’t want to vote for Republicans, but if they’re willing to shut down this madness about data centers in neighborhoods, Or anywhere near neighborhood. Or having private citizen, subsidize electrical power consumption for data centers. I’m voting for that politician.

I don’t have much time for pedos, But if you wanna try vigilanteeism, the only thing that’s gonna happen realistically if you’re going to wind up in prison. Yeah, you might get a few good hits on them or they’ll even kill them. But the end of the day you’re still in jail or prison. So if they’re alive and you beat the shit out of them, now you get stalking charge harassment charge, assault and battery charge. And once you have those charges on your record, good luck on getting a decent paying job. You won’t even get the interviews. Might make feel good, but good luck on paying your bills.

If you killed them now, you’re in jail for murder. Or manslaughter depending on.

Exactly how was that successful? how is that a good thing in any way shape or form? Your life is fucked.

By the way to the original poster, I know you weren’t saying you were going to go do it. This message is really to those who are thinking about doing it. It’s just a stupid idea.

Nobody’s going to like this answer. But the simple reality is this. Basically everything has to be cut. Yes, the rich need to pay their fair share. But there’s no way we can tax our way out of that kind of debt. It is not realistic. It is pure fantasy to think a person a company an organization, a country or anything else can literally bring in that kind of money. It’s impossible. So yes, tax the wealthy. But we are gonna have to make some serious hard cuts.

And we cannot just do cuts in one area. It will have to be cuts across the board.

And now I’m going to show my hypocrisy. I just said everything, but I’m going to turn around and say the only thing that we really can’t cut is Social Security. The elderly, who live on Social Security realistically can’t get another job. So we’d have a choice a bunch of old people in the streets or keep Social Security. So Social Security would have to stay and everything across the board has to be cut. And if we literally can’t make enough cuts without cutting into Social Security then yeah we’d have to cut Social Security too.

That means everybody’s pet project. Everybody’s favorite thing that the government spends money on is going to get cut. And yes, as I said if we can’t cut enough out of everything and we have to cut Social Security then Social Security would have to be cut back.

The other alternative is the entire country goes bankrupt. And I know there are people in lemmy that think that’s a good thing. You pay attention anything in economy or economics I should say. The US economy is too intertwined with other countries. If we go bankrupt, it will take a lot of economies around the world right with it. So that’s just not an option. So the US is going to have to cut their spending on pretty much everything. The alternative is bankruptcy

yeah i do. i look the world through the eyes of a realist and of one who studies history. you should try it.

also look at the number of upvotes and down votes you have. and those are from people in lemmy not in reddit. lemmy is left leaning and they are agreeing with me. think about that.
