he was banging on about creating electric car infrastructure and talking about a backup plan for humanity in case we destroy the planet through climate change. While putting "his" money where his mouth is.
Second the hype train came around praising him as not only a Christ-Figure of Private Enterprise, but the real life Tony Stark to boot, I knew he had to be full of shit.

He was always crazy, I saw through his shit since he got famous. Anyone who praised him heavily was ignorant, even before the shitshow with politics.
I was just ignorant to think he would go down and not just buy the president, apparently with enough money you can.
