Already out again!

That was really fast. I don't know exactly when they opened up sales for them, but I figured we'd have more time than that.

Edit they're still showing up as available for me, I've checked on a few devices. They're either going in and out of stock, or have limited regional availability.

We've definitely seen in the past that availabilities vary by region.

They have it now. 1TB if you go now you can get it

As someone who upgraded to the OLED from LED when they released the white ones, the OLED screen is amazing. The difference is insane.

The battery was the biggest change for me. The more demanding deck games going from 1.5 hours of battery life to 2.5 hours was incredible.

Honestly I'm always surprised by the weight difference when I pick the LCD my wife uses vs the OLED I use. The LCD isnt heavy, but its def heavier. But the battery life is still the bigger win IMO.

That was fast

I actually don't want the 1TB because of that anti-glare they have on the screen.

Romkslrqusz@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I had read elsewhere that the anti glare etching also makes things look a little ‘off’ if you use a screen protector

Upgrading to a 2TB SSD is pretty trivial, I saw no reason not to go with the lowest capacity model

DonutsRMeh@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Right. Some folks like the antiglare

vxx@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Does it have any other effect than making the Deck less of a mirror where I see myself while gaming?

I recently gave my 256 LCD away and got a 1TB OLED. I only see positives regarding the screen. Colors are crisp and very natural. The Wi-Wi Signal strenghts mightve dropped a bit I think.

DonutsRMeh@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I feel like it dims the colors a little. If you put it side by side with the 521GB, you'd see the colors are less vibrant on the anti-glare screen. They're like muted if that makes sense. It could also be personal preference, but I personally saw the difference and didn't like the colors on the 1TB.

vxx@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Yes, the colours appear a bit warmer to me, which is what I decribe as natural. I love my colours that way. It's more like looking outside than looking at the TV or ads in magazines. Well, I have spent good money to get an LED TV that has natural colours opposed to the oversaturated Samsung crap.

As long as you're happy with your device, nothing else reallg matters. It's all personal preference.

I caught a black Friday deal & upgraded my 64gb LCD to 2TB.

Was only about 2 hrs worth of work, including reflashing the OS.

Worth it.
