I think that a combination of several things (like less than ideal performance per dollar value for the SM, and the cost of PC components continuing to rapidly climb while SM remains on a who-knows-how-long wait list) pushed quite a few people to other alternatives.

I don't think all of the regional queues are as low as about a month like OP, but they're probably all a little shorter than expected.

And he's still MIA! Still no one's seen him, all we've seen are a series of "statements" that he supposedly wrote, released by his office, and janky photos that are highly likely to be AI.

He's got to be dead, or brain dead. Considering they could make it all go away just by letting him show his face for two minutes, it has to be that he's incapable of doing so.

I always thought that if God exists, then God must be practically indistinguishable from science, as far as we're concerned.

Because you can't tell me that any practically omnipotent being with a 50,000 IQ would deliberately choose to personally micromanage every cubic nanometer of the entire universe for every single Planck time of the duration of the entire universe that they're creating.

There's no way that they would!

As the old saying goes: Work smarter, not harder. This entity is going to create a series of clockwork laws for the universe to run by (physics), and then they're going to let set laws do their thing, and then they're going to stay out of the way.

Ergo, to me God and science would be (for all practical purposes) indistinguishable from each other if God exists, just based on how the universe would be started in the first place.

I'm probably polling ahead of Susan Collins at this point, and I don't live within 500 miles of Maine and am also a complete nobody.

I think she'd currently be losing to a few of the more devastating mosquito-spread diseases if they somehow congealed themselves into a human and ran against her.

I get targeting this toward passengers... maybe. But drivers?

Pretty sure that drivers are asked to present their license in approximately 99.999999% of traffic stops. And there are already existing laws to deal with the situation if they refuse to do so after an officer's lawful order. So this law's requirement telling drivers to ID themselves seems a bit redundant.

Additionally... no one currently knows specifically what's going on with him, he's been MIA for three weeks now.

His spokespeople keep saying that he's recovering from a medical incident but no one knows which hospital or in general where he is.

I've seen some conspiracy theories that he's actually dead and they're hiding it to prevent Kentucky's Democratic governor from sending a Democrat to Washington to replace him, but that doesn't even make sense, as Kentucky is one of the few states where the governor doesn't appoint remainder-of-term Congressional replacements... it'd be a special election instead.

The whole thing is super-weird.

They lost me at that price point, sadly. And I was really looking forward to this thing launching.

Valve makes damn good products, I'm rocking a Steam Deck and a SC in my personal collection, and love them both.

But my next PC upgrade was looking to be just that... a power upgrade. That was the main focus.

The small form factor, the excellent presentation, and the Valve quality that we all know this is going to have... they would have been nice. But right now I'm looking for equal or better than SM performance regardless of form factor, and I have my sights set on several possible options to get that, all of which are at least a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. Sorry Gabe.

If you're single, you can more easily downsize your life as much as you need to in order to save money.

I'm in my 40s and not single, but if I were, I'd be minimizing rent and expenses as much as I possibly could to get more money saved and invested.

Hell, people do crazy creative things to avoid rent, like intentional vehicle dwelling, or stealth-staying in storage units due to that being way cheaper than rent. You don't necessarily have to go that extreme, but most single people have more going out than they realize they do and have some areas they can trim.
