Changed my guitar strings today

Broke the B string yesterday while noodling, so today I changed all the strings and cleaned up ol' blue.

I think playing the guitar disqualifies you from the dull men’s club.

If you own a guitar but can’t play it, you’re top tier.

What about if you play it badly?

You're on thin ice, mister.

That guitar looks gorgeous

Thanks, it was one I fell in love with the first time I picked it up.

my whammy bar fell out, can't get it to screw back in.

oh well. at least she's been restrung and retuned.

Man that headstock looks like it’s gonna put out a band mates eye if you get a little too excited on stage

grillgamesh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 1y

hahah, I feel that. she's already drawn blood from me when I restrung her.

PoorYorick@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Try wrapping a couple winds of Teflon tape around the whammy bar.

grillgamesh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 1y

will do. I'll report back after I get home if it worked.

There's likely a tiny Allen key slot that you can also tighten on the side of the bridge, near the knobs

grillgamesh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 1y (3 replies)

no dice.

grillgamesh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

no Allen key slots located anywhere on the guitar.

Canadian_Cabinet@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

It might be hidden on the side of the tremolo block? Like you'd need to do a dive bomb to be able to see it

grillgamesh@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 1y

yeah I looked aaaaalll over. no such luck :(

Lime Ernie Ball Slinkys or i’m reporting this post for violating the Dull Act.

PoorYorick@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Do Ernie Ball cobalt slinkies count?

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

Oooooo top E is an 0.08?? Mmmmmmm.

Alright, I’ll allow it, but you’d better play some dull stuff! :)

naught@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

as a sweaty-handed-dull-man, i swear by elixir coated strings. I put mine on at least a year ago at this point and play weekly if not daily, and they play good as new & they sound great. slinkys wouldve been a rusty, finger-cutting mess after 2 weeks, no matter how much i clean after playing.

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Fair. But they aspensive!

SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

That’s not a dull man’s guitar.

StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org · 6 pts · 1y

That is a beautiful guitar.

dmention7@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Only thing more embarrassing than breaking a B string is when the G string snaps.

I'll see myself out....

Beautiful guitar by the way!

PoorYorick@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Thankfully, my g string stays right in the zone it was designed for.

DjMeas@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I changed my strings about 2 months ago and haven't touched it since. I feel like I do this every few years with my guitar.

waz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Yep. This here is me.

Know_not_Scotty_does@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Neat, I didn't relize LTD did a (semi-)hollowbody.

PoorYorick@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

They don't anymore. This was from when they were trying to branch into something other than face melters.

Know_not_Scotty_does@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Ah, bummer. I love the way my eclipse plays but would like a hollowbody at some point.

LetmeLemmy@hilariouschaos.com · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

What's the paint brush for?

PoorYorick@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

I use it to brush the guitar down after I finish playing. It gets rid of gunk from nooks and crevasses more easily than a rag and means I have to do a deep clean less often.
