A collective of American therapists that charge $30-70 per session plus a one time membership fee of $65 to support the organization

full disclosure: I am a counselor in their directory

Highly recommend. I found my therapist there 5 years ago and she’s amazing

Then you finally get your meds and RFKJr throws you in a concentration camp for your mental illness.

I am not fucking going to el salvador. But I might just go straight to hell. Hopefully I'll drag some fascists down there with me.

My experience so far is the psychiatrist is the easy part (if you have a formal diagnosis already); had a psychiatrist appointment in under two weeks after trying to schedule one but they couldn't prescribe anything without the formal diagnosis (they outright said i would probably benefit from medication) :/

They gave me a referral to a psychologist for testing; that appointment took over two months, and I'm... not happy about it. Didn't really go anywhere and now I'm looking again.

✨ America 🌈

Just in case anyone from Ontario is reading, there are websites of therapists taking appointments, organized by accreditation.

Prices are also much cheaper than $500, but they are mostly over $150 per session.

I'm in America and my therapist is $150 per session before insurance kicks in.

I was able to get diagnosed pretty easily. But getting to see a therapist has been impossible. I've stopped trying. After I was diagnosed, I tried to see a therapist. Get an appointment 6 months away. Show up 6 months later, sign in at reception, wait 45 minutes until a nurse comes and tells me the doctor cancelled due to an emergency. Reschedule for another 6 months later. Repeat the same situation. Four. Fucking. Times.

After the last time they pulled this shit, I stopped bothering. I'm sure it would be less of headache if I actually had money to pay for a private therapist; but I just have Medi-Cal and have limited options for where I can use my insurance.

I’ve been seeking help on-and-off again for the last 5 years and it’s been the following experience for me.

Years ago, on-and off again Me: seeks help, search for therapist on a budget Prospective therapist: I’m sorry but your case seems complex and requires therapist+ premium starting at $250/hr with weekly sessions starting tomorrow Me: has very little money, insurance only covers $500/year ….

Now Me: seeks help now that there’s money saved up Therapy practices near me: now it’s $270/hr and we’ll call you in 6-10 months to schedule your first consultation appointment

Good fun.
