I was half an hour late lol

The people in my team told me I was the best manager they've ever had. Put a huge smile on my face.

Because I actually cared about them and not just about myself.

An hour early for my Drs appointment, but it's better than being late ๐Ÿ˜‚

Edit: ooo she saw me early! #winning!

TinyBreak@aussie.zone · 12 pts · 1y (2 replies)

having to tell people off for having an ad hoc meeting right next to my desk. The looks they gave me I nearly turned around and said "Bro this isnt even your area! If your gonna sit in IT's section least you can do is be respectful and not shout at each other 2 meters from my desk!"

Duenan@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

I have the same problem, especially when I'm on my break though I don't have the courage to tell people they're being too loud and disturbing me,

Very helpful cat

black cat on jigsaw puzzle

@imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone have you seen the new CBM GF drop?

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (3 replies)

My sister's cat does this. And about half the pieces end up with little tooth mark deckles around the edges. Has been known to stash random pieces in his bed. I think he likes the taste of the glue.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Oh I don't glue. I either give them away or stash for enough years they are new again

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I was referring to the glue that holds the cardstock together to the picture - not the glue that people use to frame a jigsaw.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

no glue!

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Helpful Cat is pointing out where the missing piece goes

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

If he could point out where that one is in the sort pile...

He's sitting on it.

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (3 replies)

CBM GF drop ?? what's CBM? (though I am so tired I read that as CMB (cosmic microwave background) and was momentarily very confused

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

oooh CBM cheaper by miles - NO but that's saturday morning shopping sorted :-)

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Yay!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Cheaper by Miles. Did I disremember your interest in such goods?

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I really like how this puzzle is not the usual dimensions.

( I'd do the horizon after the edges, then the tree line, then sort top and bottom )

Holy Shit!

I never in all my born days thought this would happen. But on reflection, the article makes a good point about confluent aspirations.

There are some episodes of the QAA podcast on the crossover between the wellness industry and conspiracy theories so this doesn't feel like a massive jump.

When people are already rejecting vaccines and science it's probably easier to sell them on eugenics

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Yeah, just look at RFK jr

All his weird wellness stuff and proposal of work camps for โ€˜addictsโ€™ (cough fascism) and now heโ€™s trying to find the cause of/cure autism (cough eugenics)

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Yeah, the crunchy to alt-right pipeline :( Gotta watch out for that in certain hobbies for sure.

This is especially disgusting though. Itโ€™s no longer a dogwhistle but a foghorn. Weird racist cult behaviour masquerading as something wholesome.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

this is an advancement

at least they believe in germ theory now

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

I haven't had a bougie bath in a very long time. Aunt's bath is really nice (resort sort of nice) so I had to tonight was a long day. Lush. Lit the candles, lights off. i'm not really into that that sort of thing but yea.. nice.

Last time I used that thing was when I chucked hambam in for a bath when he was covered in mud / fuck knows what else.

Tonight was my night though.

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Man, I think I caught a bit of whatever's going around. No respiratory issues whatsoever, don't think I even have a fever but the headache came back with a vengeance and I've been so fatigued with so little appetite that I only got out of bed for the first time at 9:30 PM - yes, PM, nearly 24 hrs straight in bed - to pee (an unholy dark liquid) and eat and drink something. Feel full after a couple of bites although my stomach is making all the food noises. Managed to keep down dinner, took two Nurofen with an antacid, back in bed and I hope to HELL that I'll feel better tomorrow.

I have found that sleep is the best cure for this cold

It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon for a walk, I went down to the Mullum Mullum Creek trail. Mr Woof greatly enjoyed all the sniffs and the multiple patches of succulant grass to nibble on. He was less enthused by the mode of transportation to and from. Hopefully I can squeeze in a couple more fun trips for him before he has to go through the long trip to Ballarat.

Power is back on? Yes! What a relief.

I wish I had the energy to sort out more battery powered stuff and physical media for these times just to take the edge off. Itโ€™s never hugely long and not frequent but it really gets to me.

I still havenโ€™t fixed the solar panel/car battery combo and at this point itโ€™s unlikely Iโ€™ll be able to sort it out >.<

If you want to go down the battery path these basic lanterns are great. They run on 4xAAA batteries, last for ages, and give lots of light.

kmart have little LED globes for 2 bucks, Runs off AA batteries. Get some rechargeable batteries and you are laughing. Ikea ones are pretty cheap and great.

Good idea, might grab some

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Rechargeable battery packs have been a godsend for me.

If I know ahead of time Iโ€™ll get everything ready.

I have a dolphin light which is pretty powerful and bright just incase as well if youโ€™re candle adverse.

Thought Iโ€™d set up my digital drivers license. Yes Iโ€™m late to the party. So I go into to vic services app, then a couple of menus later, find something that says โ€˜digital licenceโ€™. Select it, itโ€™s a link to services web page which says; to get a licence you need to get the services app. I really do not have not brain power for this government paradox loop right now, will try to figure it out tomorrow.

Got a big fat ball of anxiety in my stomach. Blehhhh!

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

(my emergency early morning anxiety goto - in case it helps.)

Blanket burrito yourself, STAT. Close eyes. What are all the noises you hear? What's the furtherest away noise? Listen. As you calm notice warmth and texture. If you can get down another notch notice breath. Can you listen, feel, breathe all together?

And the ball is legit but you have amazing strength. Reach out if you need anything practical (food, transport, etc) to get through.

I am slowly working my way through the Discworld books using my Spotify audiobook hours. About halfway through the new(ish) penguin audio versions and I am starting to get the hype. My eyes get sore after a day on the computer and it's a nice way to drift off.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

Polystyrene has now been disposed of, and I stopped in for some more packing materials on the way back. Oh, alright, it was actually the craft resource rescue place, and the packing materials are mostly bits of fabric etc., but close enough! I also grabbed a couple of rectangular tins with hinged lids which were some sort of promotional hair care thing, but will be great little rubbish bins for the bathrooms. I had plans for a big coffee tin, but these will work better - I might even cover them with the wallpaper I found.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

Snacks and fruits make the insomnia less shitty. Slightly.

Warmer than the fridge outside!! I might be able to forgoe the fingerless gloves and scarf for our walk this morning.

Today's main task is going to be polysyrene disposal - all the furniture I bought included a ridiculous amount of the stuff, and I haven't even opened all the boxes yet. I have a pile in the back of the van to take to the recycling centre in Bayswater, unfortunately there are no recycling options for polystyrene around Ballarat. I'll probably be able to bring another lot down after the move, as I'll have to come back to do some more garden tidying etc. anyway. I'll also have a van load of cardboard boxes to take to the tip, moving things around uses an awful lot of packaging.

TV Review. The Outlaws. BBC by Stephen Merchant.

it's a really good show, just not the show I wanted to watch.

coming of age series

But not everything has to be a tense drama with ultra violence

I struggle with some of the cringe Brittish humour but agreed, the show is fun.

This may make me sound 100 years old but I think I'm growing partial to email clients. If I look at my emails in a separate program to my browser it stops me getting lost on the internet instead of doing what I'm trying to. It also means my email tab isn't taking up all this RAM.

And I really should cut Google out of my life. That will be easier if the interface I use for emails is the same, it doesn't matter what provider I'm using.

Also, I got sick of all the ads in Gmail's Promotions section. No ads in a client.

melbourne_wanderer@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I switched from Gmail (and Nord VPN) to using the proton suite of tools. Much happier.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

100 years old? I think it makes you sound ten. A being of a world colonised by google.

Also if you remember the ol'' netscape communicator suite try seamonkey. it's awesome

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I'll check it out. Initial impressions are it's how we should be using the internet instead of being forced to use the same couple of websites for everything

I just remembered I was going to get a Feliway diffuser for the move. They are a bit pricier than I was expecting, for that price it better be as good as it's reputed to be. I got a diffuser and a travel spray, plus she will have Gabapentin for the moving day itself.

Eagle@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

You can find good prices online I found when I was using them a bit. Or get the spray and use it in key spots.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I got it from Budget Pet Products. I was just expecting in the $20-$40 range, seeing the diffuser at the first place I looked selling for over $100 was a bit of a shock! I ended up paying about $120 for a diffuser and a spray bottle.

They say to spray it in the travel carrier, but I'm not sure how much she needs it there - now that Mr Woof's carrier has been taken away she's back to napping in her own again.

Eagle@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

We were using the 'Friends' derivative, and yes the initial cost of the diffuser was exxy. I could find refills for around $50.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Ugh. Accidentally napped, and woke up quite late for Melbcatโ€™s meds.

::: spoiler Cat tmi Sheโ€™s still been crying and desperately ran away after using the litterbox today so I think her uti is still causing pain. When it should be settling? Sheโ€™s constipated too.

Already been to the vet on Tuesday to try and find out what the pain is but now I think itโ€™s that.

Iโ€™ve given the extra pain relief on top of her usual and might have to just give it more routinely instead of waiting for the need. Making my alarms louder so I actually hear them.

I need to find where that Cystapro stuff is - itโ€™s bright red and tastes terrible but maybe right now it could give some relief. Iโ€™ve given her a hot water bottle to lie on while I look.

I also mixed a little Osmolax into her wet food with extra water plus pumpkin baby food and might keep that up until things improve.

:::

Edit: That is so weird. I canโ€™t find the Cystapro capsules. I did stop using it but donโ€™t remember throwing them away
