Yes, I own a full sized (200 liter / 53 gallon) ex-whiskey barrel that I repurposed into a rain water butt (shut the fuck up).

I bought it off of a local buy-and-sell website for I think €60 and bought a kit to channel rain water from my downspout into it. I then installed a brass spout on the side near the bottom as a tap. I can fill a watering can and water my raised bed plants with it even in droughts when watering plants with the hose is forbidden

Heh, "butt".

what did I just fucking say I tried to get ahead of this fuckery god DAMN you

PillowTalk420@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Sure. I'll take a buttload so I can tap those bungholes.

Are you threatening me?

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

With a good time

deegeese@sopuli.xyz · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Half barrels make nice planters.

Otherwise no.

Ginrai@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Word.

Yeah, they protect the party from attacks for a bit.

secret of mana party in barrels

Carnelian@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

If I found a nice looking one for free I’d take it and use it as a table, I don’t think I’d pay much for one though

Obi@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 1y

I don't have one, I would like to have one. Are you offering?

Steve@startrek.website · 5 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I own 1 steel barrel and 3 plastic barrels

Melatonin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Plastic barrels? Are you dissolving bodies in acid?

hihi24522@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

The metal barrel might be more suited for acids depending on what metal it is. Plus bare metal is naturally anti microbial which will help avoid some possible risks with handling corpses

But I suppose if you’re going to leave the body in the it and waste the whole perfectly good barrel on a corpse, the plastic is likely a cheaper option

AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Why waste a perfectly good corpse on a barrel?

zero_spelled_with_an_ecks@programming.dev · 2 pts · 1y

Because having the extra just means I'm disappointing two corpses at the same time.

Zomg@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y

No thanks, but I appreciate you offering to those who could be in desperate need 🤓

moonlight@fedia.io · 4 pts · 1y

I'd like one, don't really have a lot of space for it though. It's not really a high life priority for me.

kux@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 1y

barrel ownership must be nationalised to prevent anyone avoiding their turn in it

LambdaRX@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 1y

Hell yeah! How else would I be able to join the elite barrel owers club?

Fizz@lemmy.nz · 3 pts · 1y

My grandma used to have a barrel. However barrels are not my thing

Maestro@fedia.io · 3 pts · 1y

I used to have two. A 10 liter and a 30 liter oak barrel. Keeping them clean when in use is hard. I eventually sold them.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Yes, please and thank you

Yermaw@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y

I'd like to have enough space to accommodate a barrel with ease if that counts?

SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 1y

Yes. Barrels are cool.

boonhet@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y

If it's within the EU and you're offering, I will come pick it up in person sometime this summer

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1y

Yeah, I could legit use one for sure. Using a plastic bin for chicken feed storage currently, but I'd prefer a vertical option. A good wooden barrel will last decades with no issues at all on a porch like ours. And not get thrown around when empty and a giant numpty of a rooster slams into it because he's a giant numpty that can't be bothered to watch where he's going.

Also, the giant numpty could stand on it while demanding biscuits and/or pats.

Quilotoa@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

They're great for making docks.

nokturne213@sopuli.xyz · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Also good for clothing if you wake up naked.

iii@mander.xyz · 2 pts · 1y

Always have an emergency barrel nearby

ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com · 2 pts · 1y

If it was filled with good bourbon, yes

Sunsofold@lemmings.world · 2 pts · 1y

I plan to get a few. I want to do rain water collection for plant irrigation.

Also, if I can, I'd like to make one into a taiko drum.

shai_hulud@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I own one. Technically it is an old clothing dryer but it's wood and has iron hoops and is cylindrical.

iii@mander.xyz · 1 pts · 1y

How does it feel to own one?
