Switch line up is looking pretty dry. Only 2 games in 2025 (assuming Metroid Prime 4 releases in 2025). I thought they will support it for at least an year or so, maybe with nothing major, but some more remasters etc. There are two 2026 games announced too, but I was expecting a bit more.
We may get some news in a Direct in June / July. Let's see.

I have heard from some people that the open world isn't that great. Looking forward to proper reviews now.

Looking forward to the upgrades for BOTW and TOTK. Curious if they'll feel/look much different than the original versions.

Tears of the kingdom feels so much better.
No stuttering at all in towns, buttery smooth framerates. Great HDR. It’s so good.

Played BOTW last night for about 20 mins after the update SO MUCH SMOOTHER AND CRISPER. Feels like a different game almost

I'm getting my switch tonight and took tomorrow off to play it and I'm realizing I'm basically going to be playing Mario Kart and old gamecube games. I think it's wild they couldn't have also had DK come out a month earlier
Hell I was hoping I'd at least get to play Hades 2 but that also doesn't have a release date

Well, if you don't have any other console / gaming platform, there are quite a few other games coming out, like Cyberpunk, Yakuza, Kunitsu-Gami, Hitman, Street Fighter etc.
If you are just getting it for first party games though, and have already played all the Switch 1 exclusives, then yeah, not much on it right now.

I do already have a PC and PS5 so I'm going to probably prefer to play games on those. I guess there's also the switch 2 demo game that isn't even free lol

Hoping for a new Zelda in the coming year(s), and a new Mario should be quite soon I imagine.

New Zelda might be a while, as we got both a new 3D one and a 2D one, but its about time for new 3D Mario.
Maybe next year?
victorz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
We got a new 2D Zelda? Which one was that?
A full year with only Mario Kart as the big title (I don't even play that game) feels bad. Hoping for a more timely release of Mario.

The Legends of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
Well, DK Bananza is also a big title, and we should be getting Pokémon and Metroid Prime 4 too. Not to mention Drag x Drive, Hyrule Warriors and Kirby Air Riders. So don't think we would be getting anything big this year. Would glad be to wrong though.

I have that game. Is that considered 2D? Maybe 2.5D? At least. I dunno.
But yeah, to me the "big games" are Mario and Zelda. 😅 They are the only reasons I buy Nintendo hardware. Very subjective. Sure DK Bananza is a big one too that I might consider.
slimerancher@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y
Well, by 2D I meant the top-down kind of Zelda, like A Link to the Past or Link's Awakening.
And yeah, if you want those, you can wait a while to get it.

Hyrule Warriors is really the only interest to me, and I can probably wait on that since I still have to get through age of Calamity and then Cadence of Hyrule.
