I've been working on a guide to getting started on Lemmy. What do you think I should add?

I think you should post this over to !fedigrow@lemmy.zip or one of the other communities for growing lemmy and helping new joiners. You are likely duplicating effort.

Thanks but this guide is a bit too oversimplified, which is guaranteed to leave the user with question marks after a few minutes of using it.
And I also dislike the hardcoding of recommended instances (lemmy.world and lemmy.ml).

Perhaps you could write up the sort of guide you are talking about so I can see what you mean? I haven't found people respond well to hitting them with much more than this upfront, and they get anxious when you don't give them some specific recommendations to get started.

I'll try over the weekend.

I think the unofficial fediverse logo is a nice visual aid for these concepts!

I wonder if I should make a fediverse animated gif or short mp4 that can be dropped in whenever needed.

Wouldn't an animated Lemmy logo makes sense since you're writing a Lemmy guide?
Or maybe both?

That would !be really fun!
