This is how close I can get atm.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y (2 replies)

That tabby likes you! They're marking you!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

yup, that's a cat tail cuddle

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

Melbcat โ€˜monkey tailsโ€™ me and people she likes by wrapping it around us, itโ€™s her version of a hug.

I know when sheโ€™s sick because along with the other body language she sometimes โ€˜hugsโ€™ herself with her tail to self soothe.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y

Ooohh progress!

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

Omg. It looks like youโ€™re getting a tail hug. (Cats wrapping their tail around someone is a sign of affection)

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 14 pts · 1y (5 replies)

The old manager tried to take a swipe at me again today.

Mate, just fuck off lol

Duenan@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Can't let it go can he?

Man that sucks.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I fucked him right back and it was glorious hahaha

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

I suspect all these swipes and the drama is just a distraction from general incompetence and possible illegal actions.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Now that sounds awesome.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

wow

danwritesbooks@aussie.zone · 14 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Some of you know I write books. And I write spooky stories for kids. These stories are set in Tasmania. I have written 7 books in the series over the past 3 or so years.

Why is it only now I have thought up the story idea titled "How I got my Second Head?"

Staring at me this whole time.

I was part of the Medibank, Optus and Latitude cyber hacks, and just received a notification from Qantas that I'm involved in theirs. Protection of my personal information is just meaningless at this point.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y

Yeah, same for me with Qantas and Optus. Optus breach made me leave them and not pay my last bill because fuck them. Debt has since been sold to a collection agency and I just ignore their calls ๐Ÿ˜‚ my debt is under $170 so they'll write it off eventually, it's been a few years now haha

But yeah, personal data not being personal anymore? I'm really fucking sick of it. Qantas can suck my metaphorical dick.

danwritesbooks@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

We know all about you, Steve.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y (4 replies)

shells i got yesterday

these are Pacific Ocean shells, they are big, but then the bigger ones are more likely to survive the rocky shore and waves intact

one of them is just a piece of a tun shell ( these are usually very big ) but I often pick up pieces just to know what kind of shells are around

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

They're so pretty! What lovely souvenirs of your time with the Young Seagoons.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

We are going on a big trip to the main shell beach 40 minutes away tomorrow, it's post storm, collecting should be awesome

I am hoping to get some really big and fresh specimens ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Night night!

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Today was AWESOME, met so many familiar and wonderful faces at this event and really recharged, invigorated by the presentations and this glorious sun has really perked me up as well. Wrapped up early and probably not working tomorrow, but I'll have at least earned some extra dough this week and have a bit more breathing space to catch up on life stuff. I might even look up what's on this weekend. But for the next couple of hours, it's journalling time before the psych

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

So glad you had a good day o day and you got paid for it too!

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

For sure! Although I would've liked to work a bit tomorrow and pile up the cash, I'm also grateful to have an actual weekday breather - last week I worked a full day on the day I submitted my assignment, and it's been full days this week too. Tomorrow I can take my time to chill out at a park or head out somewhere nice without too many crowds. Start reconnecting to who the hell I am outside of work and study

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I've just put together the small bookshelf I bought for the lounge room, now I just need to summon the energy to do the bedside tables and I'll be done with flatpacks. Tomorrow I'll be taking the polystyrene to the recycling centre and finalising the stuff at my old house. Then I'll be able to fully focus on the unpacking and sorting here.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Is there much more left to do?

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Still far too many boxes to unpack, unfortunately. I'm hoping I have enough of the funiture assembled and positioned now that I can focus on the actual unpacking and sorting.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I moved at least a month before you and I have only just finished unpacking/fixing things up.

Still need to buy a few more rugs and a coat rack. Then the house is all set.

So you are doing really well. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Thanks for the encouragement. It doesn't help that life doesn't stop until you finish, you still have to go to work and cook and clean and mow the lawn which takes up lots of time too. I'm also giving myself a bit of leeway as I had a week off work with a cold, but it feels like it's taking forever, even if in reality it's not been that long.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (3 replies)

::: spoiler The bedside tables are assembled! :::

They may win the award for worst designed flat pack I've ever experienced. Multiple screws with a hex fitting recessed into the wood so you can't get tools into them and can only turn a hex key less than a quarter turn before having to reposition. Plus a couple of instructions that were physically impossible. I had to make a few alterations to make it possible to get them together, but I think they are done solidly enough. The quality of the actual components is good and I like the overall design, but actually putting them together was definitely not something I'd want to repeat.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I donโ€™t mind those. Do they come in black? where might I find them?

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

It's the Rome bedside table from B2C Furniture. It does not come in black, but the Paris bedside table does.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

That was actually a really uplifting and lovely psych session?! Yay! โ˜บ๏ธ I might not even need to see her for a while even though I'm still undecided as to whether I should terminate my lease and dump all my stuff in storage, or just pay rent until I get back. Leaving my stuff here is much, much easier, but I don't want to be in the same rut. A lot hinges on whether I can trust myself to courageously move towards change if I come back to the same place.

I can feel a decision bubbling up though. And other ways in which to address that yearning for a powerful driver of change

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

That's a good thing. ๐Ÿ˜Š

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

Took today off, just needed it. Did a little bit of shopping (looking for new gym shoes if anyone has any recs), had a yum lunch and a long swim. Twas lovely.

I haven't slept more than 3 hours in a row for a year.

๐ŸŽ‰ :(

Superdooper@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Damn that's rough ๐Ÿ˜• What have you done to try and fix it?

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Everything except valium which I refuse to touch.

Superdooper@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Yeah fair enough. CBD worked well for one of my friends but it's not for everyone. For me a combination of exercise, meditation and reading before bed has helped. Hopefully you find a solution.

I've got a referal to a sleep clinic which I'll attend next week.

But cheers for the suggestion, I'll look into it :)

Melbcat seems okay. Iโ€™m waiting to see if the latest issue resolves but sheโ€™s got a good appetite, is washing herself, and got up to curiously follow a visitor around. She doesnโ€™t seem to be uncomfortable or have pain.

She keeps giving me the biggest fright ๐Ÿ˜…

porridge eaten, dog walked, two loads of washing on the line drying, cat cuddles underway. Today is going fairly well. Except for my grinder dying (with a minor smell of electrical burning just to be dramatic). I shall have to order a new one.

Edit: I have now ordered a new one.

Whenever I go to the deli I always ask for a big handful of ham. Well the other day the young lass grabs the most pitiful handful so I encouraged her to grab more by saying "bigger" but because it was shredded it all clumped together. I left with 450g of ham off the bone.

I think I'm gonna make ham and cheese muffins today.

Quiche Lorraine is good for this. You can make an easy one with premade pastry and skip the blind baking (I also used to just use dried chives)

I did need to read a recap of S3 because some of it was so slow but I also somehow forgot the amazing Napkins was in it too. I'm actually kind of happy that s4 is not returning to the insane intensity of S1 and S2 but let's see where these characters go. The development of folks like Ritchie and Tina is what really makes the show.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (6 replies)

I found a 32gb SD card in a draw. I put it in my computer and it only reads 30mb of storage capacity and it needs to be formatted.

But it can't be formatted because it's write protected.

I plug it into some computers I have and it doesn't get read at all. What's on this SD card and why doesn't it want me to know? What did I use this SD card for before?

I could probably write a haunted media story about it for reddit for 30 updoots

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Have you looked at it on a linux machine?

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I have, both through the file explorer and terminal. They're the two computers that can't detect it at all. One with an adapter and the other with a direct micro SD card slot

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (3 replies)

I was meaning less of a file view and more of a drive analysis.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I'll need to try that, thank you. But I'll have to see how it goes if both computers won't detect it

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I know about it from analysing fake micro SD cards where they've effectively rewritten the drive data to appear as more than it was. I followed a guide, I can't remember what *nix tools I used.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y

I'll look into it and see if I can find a similar guide that lets me dive into the SD card more

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

It just hit me. Melbcat has IBD. So maybe sheโ€™s having a flare.
