I wish those would come to the states. We need more boxy small vehicles

WanderWisley@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Agreed I would love to have one or any of the Japanese kei cars and trucks.

You can import the 2000 and older model years now, but some states don’t allow registration for the road.

That’s fine, I should be able to take that risk. Motorcycles aren’t designed to withstand an impact with anything and they’re legal.

tal@lemmy.today · 9 pts · 1y

Motorcycles are legal in the US.

The reason why the Jimny (Samurai) was discontinued in the US was due to Consumer Reports corrupting their testing procedures due to corporate pressure.

The fact that a Jimny will not survive being hit by an oversized Truck reflects more poorly on the society that is normalising driving oversized Trucks than on the Jimny.

A bicycle isn’t designed to take a hit from the small-dick monster trucks you see these days.

Not an issue with small vehicles, rather the insane walls of steel and plastic coming out of American truck companies.

The Jimny is about the 15th smallest car Suzuki makes.

If you're brave, drive an Alto, Lapin or a Hustler around Texas.

Check out rhe JDM lineup: https://www.suzuki.co.jp/car/lineup/

Are.... You threatening me with a good time? I'd love to drive a tiny kei car. The smaller the car is, the better!

AA5B@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

I’m thinking the same thing but maybe not that small. I really liked the Honda Element for this, but it wasn’t right for me at the time. Maybe soon Rivian R2S or R3S, or if that’s too big, Slate?

Salvo@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y

The SLATE Truck looks interesting. It is an EV from a new upstart.

The have an interesting sales model but they are backed by Bezos so they are probably more financially stable that Tesla.

Kinetic Yellow.

Illegal in some countries because that sort of colour is reserved for Emergency Vehicles.

I wanted to join Team Tennis Ball when I purchased my Jimny, but decided that Team Latte was a much better team to be on.

I'm a sucker for vehicles with fun colors!

Was going to ask. Great pic. Thought Aus myself at first - but there was no way it would be what looks to be a thatched roof?

FellowEnt@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 1y

I want to own one of these one day. Rented an old beater in Albania recently. No AC and bits falling off. Had an absolute blast and learned a few lessons about 4WD.

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 1y

Minecraft got cars now?

EdanGrey@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

My husband drove a jeep in this colour, I affectionately called it 'the highlighter'.
