As much as shitting on Nintendo is deserved, the Tegra X1 is only a 10 year old chip, being first announced in 2015. It was, surprisingly, only two years outdated by the time the Switch was released.

Selling it for more than the initial MSRP a decade later is simply, ass-backwards insane, though.

they priced the new one too high, so now they're raising the old one up so people (especially newcomers to the platform) will think it's not so bad?

The new one is one of the best selling consoles of all time.

I saw one in the wild before I ever saw any marketing material for it. Unless you count youtube videos, including the direct.
